- My mental health as a fed employee can be described as a single shot of espresso in a tequila shot glass Part restraint, part escapism, slightly rebellious (in a symbolic sense), self-medicating with the tiniest allowable dose, self-soothing with aesthetics, savoring the small joys
- Beach art, part 2! See alt text for my initial thoughts on “urban” sketching. Cliffnotes: 🎨Changing scene + limited setup are difficult but got me out of my comfort zone 🎨 Cool way to immerse yourself in a scene and create a momento 🎨 Mixed feelings on being perceived while creating
- Sneaking one in last-minute for #MarchintoLandscapes: #dank (because I’m procrastinating packing for Mexico) A mini #gouache #painting of Linville Caverns in North Carolina, where I visited several years ago. These jadey green deposits were so cool
- #Drawing for #MakersMArtch. The best drawing advice I’ve gotten: 1. Everything is shapes and lines. Including… 2. Negative space. (The shapes between the shapes.) Don’t say, “I can’t draw XX” (mine was mouths), because that, too, is just shapes and lines. What’s your best tip? #drawing #drawingtips

- #dank #landscape from a photo I took in #southcarolina made w the Color Therapy app years ago (iykyk 😎 You can do a fair amount in the paid version & they actually had great tutorials). I think I did pretty good for fingers + an iPhone! I 🤍 the ripples in the water #MarchIntoLandscapes
- A quick daffodil for a birthday card for my mom 💜 purple is her color and daffodils, apparently, are her birth-month flower #daffodil #watercolor #gouache #painting #art
- #Frozen #landscape painted through the POV of binoculars, featuring ice fishers we saw on Lake Winnipesaukee this winter. “Orange Coat” was out there all day doing their thing, joined off and on by assistants. We were very impressed by their tenacity. #nh #watercolor #marchintolandscapes
- A tiny, stained-glass heart painting I made for Valentine’s Day last year. I add a new tiny painting each birthday, Valentine’s Day, and anniversary. Filling in all the fragments with different gradients was very meditative and relaxing. #glass #watercolor #sharpie #makersmartch
- An oldie but goodie. I painted this #crowded beach scene for Father’s Day 2 years ago when I’d just started painting. I think I did a good job but every part of this was a learning experience (see alt texts for details). #MarchIntoLandscapes #landscape #watercolor #art #BlueSkyArtShow

- Micro “alien landscape” 👽 🦀 🐚 for Day 15 of the #MarchIntoLandscapes challenge. This is a closeup of a rock on a beach in Panama with a bunch of little hermit crabs (I think) hanging out within the rock face #landscape #watercolor #painting #gouache
- #Jagged #landscape for #MarchIntoLandscapes is from a photo I took at Cannon Beach in Oregon where The Goonies was filmed. It’s a #seascape but it’s low tide, so it counts
- This is barely a #landscape but this gorgeous yoga shala is #cavernous and I just couldn’t wait to start painting some scenes from my Panama trip / join the #marchintolandscapes art challenge
- #Wood burning experiments for #MakersMartch ! (1) Axe handle w my own 🌭 font for our annual neighborhood Sausage Fest (2) Initials and fleur de lis for a friend (3) hands of family in ILY in ASL 🤟🏼 for in-laws’ Xmas gift
