- The sunrise light added just enough warmth to this misty winters morning to combat the cold. I just love how the mist is filtering through the trees, disappearing into the distance. #sunrise #drone #landscape #photography
- Layers upon layers with misty goodness during sunrise. From the Chiltern Hills of Oxfordshire.
- Long shadows at sunrise. I particularly love the long shadow of the trees on the dark side of the barrow in this capture, which I only saw when editing this photograph. The sun was illuminating the hazy air, creating this cool effect! Captured in Oxfordshire, England.
- Just three months until our woodlands look like this! Winter is long, dark and grey. Spring welcomes longer days and warmer weather - something I am very much looking forwards to! Here’s a few captures from the past few years, highlighting the springtime bluebell blooms in British woodland.
- Some misty minimalism for this Sunday.
- I’m so thrilled to say I won the Rising Talent category of the prestigious Travel Photographer of the Year 2025. Part of the prize is a photography trip to Sri Lanka as part of a mentoring scheme. I cannot wait to get started! You can see my selected portfolio below.
- Only a few leaves remain deep into winter on this beech branch, with flecks of orange filling the scen. Fog fills the frame, with distant trunks disappearing to nothing. #woodland #nature #beech #photography
- One from this morning! Beech trunks reach up to the canopy in this wonderful woodland. Thick cold blue fog fills the scene, adding intrigue and mood into this winter capture.
- Here’s a selection of winter scenes I’ve shot in the past month or so. Some abstract, some trees, some landscapes from either my camera or drone. All from the Scottish Highlands, in the Cairngorms National Park. Do you have a favourite?
- As the mist rolled through. What a special morning!
- Long shadows at sunrise. This isn't Tuscany. This isn't AI. This is Oxfordshire, England: a small group of trees on top of a Bronze Age Barrow (burial ground). The sunrise casts long shadows, with that of the group of trees stretching out beautifully across the landscape.
- A lone group of trees, on top of a Bronze Age burial mound, at sunrise. The mist rolled in, and glowed golden in the first light. I was so enthralled by the scene - it was stunning to watch with my own eyes. This is what is never possible with AI. You don’t get to experience moments like THIS.
- Scored the jackpot this morning at sunrise. Just incredible scenes, with mist & light. From Oxfordshire, England.
- The Fallen One At first glance, it’s a tree standing against blue sky. Looking closer you realise it’s a frozen, fallen tree, dead, laying in the water of a Scottish loch. #winter #nature #scotland #photography
- Frozen by the loch. A scene captured during very cold conditions in the Scottish Highlands, where hoar frost covered this birch tree, & the still loch and blue sky painted a wonderful backdrop. #scotland #winter #frost #nature #photography
- The beauty of trees from above. They seem different from this perspective, like a neural network reaching out in random directions. The autumn colours are shown in all their glory, too. #woodland #nature #photography
- Sunrise views from Tuscany. The colours and light was spectacular combined with the iconic towns and the mist the region is known for. #sunrise #tuscany #misty #photography
- It’s all about the light. This sunrise was on the cusp of producing sun beams, but it didn’t quite materialise. It just gave this wonderful golden glow to the cold naked trees. #woodland #nature #photography
- An old Scot’s Granny Pine tree during a frozen winters day. I love the contrasts in this photograph, the warm bark against the cold white frost, and the old pine against the young birch trees behind. #woodland #winter #photography
- Winter painted this scene white with thick frost. It compliments this wonderful old pine from the Caledonian Forest in Scotland perfectly. #winter #scotland #nature #woodland #photography

- A bend in the River Spey, deep in the Scottish Highlands. The landscape was covered in frost during a -8c cold spell. The thick low cloud made the light flat, but I feel like it suits the scene. #winter #landscape #scotland #nature #photography
- Whilst flying my drone, I saw the sun was perfectly aligned with this mountain and its shadow, with the mist highlighting this perfectly. Whilst this is not the ‘best’ photo I’ve ever taken, it’s a pretty cool alignment!
- When the sunrise combines with the frost and mist drifting through the forest, it creates a scene like this. #nature #photography #landscape #misty #woodland
- My ‘Top 4’ most liked photographs on social media in the past year. Three of them are from a single morning of photography in Savernake Forest with the most amazing colours and light. I’d like to thank each and every one of you on Bluesky for the support this year! Here’s to 2026. Happy New Year!
- There is something really special about truly cold winter conditions. This isn’t snow, this is hoar frost. Combined with the orange tones of the decaying bracken, it makes for quite an unusual but beautiful scene. #woodland #winter #nature #landscape #photography
