- The tendrils lashed out at me, even as the bulk of the thing grew, eating everything in my living room, pustules bubbling up and forming new and more horrific shapes. The smell alone threw me against the wall, coughing, where the thing faced me down with all of its mucosal eyes. #horrorwriterschat
- 4 February is World Cancer Day. 1 in 5 people develops cancer. We lost HWC originator Matt to cancer in 2025 🤍🕯️ #HorrorWritersChat - The call is coming from inside the house. Q4: Write a one-post scene where your character meets the personification of cancer in their home. --- Outro in 10 mins
- In AWOO, my cyborg rock star Clyve was injured by an IED in "the war" and the military replaced the left side of his upper body, left arm, and part of his head, with metal and cybernetic implants. It *mostly* helps him, and it's central to why he meets my werewolf MC. #horrorwriterschat
- #HorrorWritersChat Our bodies are the homes that house us. Sometimes they work to our advantage. Sometimes they can work against us. Q3: Describe the physical characteristics of one of your horror story characters. Is there anything about their body that helps or hinders them in their story?
- My werewolf MC lives in a converted mid-century motel. He likes the mid-century kitchy aesthetic, but in his own condo, he prefers "rumpled comfortable," so he's got a big leather club chair, a comfy couch, etc. None of that is really relevant to the plot of AWOO, but it's there. #horrorwriterschat
- #HorrorWritersChat In fiction, homes tell us something about their inhabitants. Q2: How do the living spaces in your horror reflect your characters?
- Hey there, I write cosmic horror, weird fiction, and other stuff. I'd have to say Paranormal Activity, if not Hell House LLC. #horrorwriterschat
- Welcome to #HorrorWritersChat I hope you've grabbed a snack and a drink in a cosy spot. Let's begin. Q1: Introduce yourself and the horror subgenres you write. Then, share your favourite horror story/movie set inside a home.

- If you see this post a character that starts with a B

- Evil S2E9 - ok, this show is The Ring now? lmao.
- Fans of “Evil.” So I guess this show has to be a sort of satirical and very camp Catholic-tinged Twin Peaks pastiche with cosmic horror overtones. In no universe was this show made to be “serious.” I kind of love the sheer nutsness of it.
- Evil Season 1 Ep. 12: Really? I mean...really?
- Jeez David is just getting absolutely fucked in this season lmao.
- Now I'm watching Evil S1 E11, and it's gone full cosmic horror - reminds me of the Dorchester House from Impossible Landscapes. A hospital where you can't tell what's real or not. Of course it's tinged with Christian imagery rather than KIY imagery, but it's nailing the feel of cosmic horror.
- Alright, people who watch Evil. You gotta warn a guy when an episode has a viral song in it that repeats and repeats and repeats. Now it's in my head, and I have caught myself starting to hum the damn thing.
- I love every interaction I've ever had with a Reddit mod. They're so good at being reasonable and flexible with their sacred rules. The mods over at nosleep are particularly wonderful people. Their intense, iron-clad gatekeeping is just delightful and charming.
- Dead Mall open.substack.com/pub/writesin... A story about a dead mall. Content warning: Gross.
- Hi! I'm a weird fiction and cosmic horror writer. My two favorite authors are Douglas Adams and China Miéville. I'm also obsessed with Lovecraft and cosmic horror. Dozens of books teeter precariously on multiple TBR stacks around my house. Find my stuff here: #tbruary
- Welcome to #TBRuary, everyone! Let us know who you are, what you like to read, and how many books are on your TBR! Readers: share one book that's extremely important to you! Writers: share a book you wrote that you want more people to read! #booksky #readingcommunity #writesky #writingcommunity
- I just wrote the phrase “sweet, meaty putrescence” and now I don’t feel so good. lol.
- Why does quitting Facebook feel like quitting cigarettes? Sheesh.
- Just started watching Evil on Paramount. Intriguing so far.
- www.fangoria.com/catherine-oh... That’s sad. She was a stone cold legend. RIP.
- Just deactivated Facebook. Felt good, but also a bit like a loss. Going to stick to the less toxic side of social media: here and Substack.
- substack.com/profile/1399... Fellow sobernauts, celebrate your milestones.
- I'm not excited that Pretti's death in Minneapolis is going to turn liberals into open-carrying gun nuts. That was not on my bingo card. As someone who has never been a fan of guns, uh, this ain't my scene, and I'm not going to be happy if I show up to a protest and see a bunch of ARs there.
- Thanks Gree! Find most of my stuff at writesinister.substack.com, including AWOO and my interactive horror story "Cold" where you get to decide what happens after each chapter. I'll be releasing AWOO as an ebook soon-ish. Stay tuned for that. :) #horrorwriterschat
- I stare at the dagger, feeling coiled tendrils of black power, and then I stare up at the full moon and howl. #horrorwriterschat
- If my werewolf huntress embraces the darkness she calls on to help her, some nasty stuff tends to happen, especially since she has the help of the descendants of Van Helsing and H. P. Lovecraft, both of whom have some pretty dark ideas about how to get those pesky werewolves. #horrorwriterschat
- I have a Call of Cthulhu character who's slowly turning into a ghoul, and when he loses enough sanity, he goes off and munches on whatever dead human flesh he can find. He's not really ok with it, but he's had to accept that it's happening. #horrorwriterschat
- In my werewolf novel "AWOO," the werewolf huntress goes to some pretty dark places to avenge the death of her sister and try to take out the pack. Her arc is how she deals with what she has to do to get revenge, and what weird and eldritch forces she has to call on for help. #horrorwriterschat
- I'm E. D. Jones, and I write cosmic horror and weird fiction, along with urban fantasy, sci-fi, and other stuff. What part of myself do I consider the darkest? Probably my interior. It doesn't get much sunlight. #horrorwriterschat
- Join me in whatever dark images and metaphors our leader Gree wishes us to explore, fellow horror writers! #horrorwriterschat

- Cold: Chapter Eighteen open.substack.com/pub/writesin... Deciding whether to read a book seems a mundane and boring choice. But while you can’t judge a book by its cover, you can judge it by whether it melts your brain out of your ears when you try to read it. Is this book worth the risk?
- I’ll do this thing also as well.

- Can't wait to see @glasscannonnetwork.bsky.social live in St. Louis in April! :)
- It's so hard to call Republican CongressMagats and keep your voice steady. You're calling Nazis and telling them to stop being Nazis. How do you do that in a civil way?
- Reeeeeeealllly wish all these resistance bird images weren't AI.
