Somerled
Highlander in the Borders. Academic. Here for the RPG chat, mostly. Groggish. Emerged from the deep freeze a few years ago and trying to catch up...

- Reposted by Somerledtonight's Dragonbane featured magical veils, a screw-thread tomb and a locking door puzzle that could have gone badly wrong. great fun with @dampscot.bsky.social @ottomancer.bsky.social @jonac.bsky.social @amacdon6.bsky.social and Little Bear whining at the top of the ladder

- Signs of spring! A carpet of snowdrops and some winter wolfsbane at the bottom of the garden. It’ll probably be snow or storms again next week, but this is pretty nice, while it lasts 😊 🌱

- Had much fun embellishing my questionable artistic ‘talents’ while making floor plans for #Grogmeet using lovely shrubbery from this joyful little house move loft discovery - unbelievably, from 1982 😳.

- Can’t believe I missed this brilliant series bitd (2004!) by two of my real favourites @grantmorrison.bsky.social and Frank Quitely. Gorgeous and innovative art with a story that’s novel and exciting and emotional and disturbing *all at the same time*. Grab the new DC compact edition (it’s a steal).

- I am marking exam scripts while scoffing stilton and supping port. This is the way it should always be done. Though not sure how it might affect my consistency...
- Now traditional family Christmas game of #Dune about to start. With epic pear and sherry mince pies as fuel to stave off (inevitable) disharmony when the betrayals begin 😂.
- Reposted by SomerledFinished the new decorations *just* in time for December.
- Slightly horrified by the weird additives on the ingredients list of the usual supermarket versions, this year I made a Yule log for the first time using @nigella.bsky.social’s recipe - turned out out a bit like a Yule catapult or snake catcher 😂. But by gum it’s tasty 🪵 🎄 😊
- Edinburgh Christmas markets looking pretty gorgeous 😊🎄🎅🏻

- These lovelies, issues 3-6 of @wyrdscience.bsky.social, have just arrived - and they look and feel *gorgeous*. Proper, quality, old school, hard copy print media for reading deeply 😊. shop.wyrd.science/products/iss...

- Mulled cider & pints of mild to ward off the dark winter after yesterday’s #DCC game in Manchester. Harley Stroh’s Blades against Death is inventive & excellent, but as deadly as the title suggests, with the party (just) surviving the Charnel Pits of Punjar (including a very near TPK). Huge fun!⚔️☠️🔥
- Couldn’t resist second breakfast at Idle Hands in Manchester, even though I’m en route to a Christmas lunch at 12.30 😂. Mince pie cheesecake (the ‘lightest’ option 😁) and their current batch filter coffee amazing as always ☕️
- #Lussekatter to brighten up a dark winter day 😊 🕯️ 🎄
- #DCC in that there Manchester tomorrow with The Expendables, so checking this still works…you know, just in case 😏

- Just started the Shadow of the Gods by John Gwynne - already completely hooked by the propulsive writing style (reminiscent of Abercrombie) and brutal Norse inspired world - complete with #vaesen!
