World Builder. Impulsive creator (game design, illustration, writing). Was the lore writer for Homeworld Mobile. Still a beleaguered parent after a pandemic.
- Grunge. It's fun to tool around with Grunge and grunge-adjacent things. The small postcard map for Grunge is really nice as a play field. Andorill and Massia will be bigger, so I thought I'd bash up maps as small as Grunge to try in skirmish games.
- Grunge, Andoril. The game could look like this.
- Grunge. I decided today to polish up the lore I was crafting for Grunge's backstory. It's up on Patron now! www.patreon.com/posts/150085...
- God now I'm tempted to get started on this when I just gave myself some mini projects :x and I need to get back to TrekCaptains!
- Grunge. Meh, why not. Units still need fixes and refinement but I wanna start doing more.
- Checked out the new muppets special. I think it's better than anything I've seen from them since the Muppets in 2011. Though the voices and performances were a bit off, I didn't care in the face of an amazing show. Favorite moment was Statler and Waldorf getting tomatoes delivered.
- Grunge Andoril. Trying to work in the zones into the map anyway, try 2.
- Grunge. Another test, trying double infantry for an armor unit and it seemed okay. The counter rule got used once and actually infantry chasing the tank caught up to it. Armor 5/4 tanks weren't perfect, but sufficient.
- Grunge. Not sure what it is, but Morgoth's not having trouble winning the game in these latest tests, and not from any rules that were recently changed
- Cast. Demo copy up, needs fixes still but at least it's something to push around and test. The design isn't as simple as Grunge, which is making me nervous this might not work after all.
- Cast. Putting a pin in this for this morning, but here's where I got.
- Reading Those Darn Squirrels by Adam Rubin and I'm tempted to make a Root faction based on these squirrels with absolute bonkers gameplay. The kind where warriors are your crafting pieces and you draw cards out other players hands, not the draw deck. Something absolutely absurd to play.
- Cast. One fun challenge of doing postcard wargames is trying to cram rules into as tight a space and in as austere of a form as possible.
- Cast. This is fun, need to pick 3 characters to fill out Casts' hero roster. I need to think up letter keywords eventually because there's only so far I can go with just stats before they get samey.
- Cast. I think I'm gonna stick with the silhouettes because I'm having fun working with them. Especially the little bits of character I can suggest through mere icons. The exhausted side is a portrait into each character having to fight from out of bed.
- Cast. Had fun working with the envoys and demon icons by giving them a silhouette. Thought I'd try it with the character tokens vs the icons they used previously. Thoughts? Would be an easy way to tell them apart from items.
- Sketch from this morning Grunge / Cast / Sent
- Sent. Kinda of a rough day doing things other than desk work. Struggling through Cast, so I'm gonna start Sent.
- Cast. New map for cast. Story now is a necromancer has returned, and is amassing armies by sending creatures to corrupt the locals of the land. The Heroes have to stop them.
- Cast/Gyr. Thinking back on my map troubles, there's a part of me that wants to revert back to depicting the hex sides because of convention. Most wargames, especially wargames of that vintage, didn't do anything fancy like mark the verities only. So I'm considering other solutions.
- Game 4. Wow!
- Grunge. Game 3. Placing the HQ after Mogoth allows you to make interesting setups and deployments.
- Grunge. Game 2
- Grunge. Gave up, printed a new set and mounted counters to cardboard so they're easier to grab.
