Queer in AI
Our mission is to raise awareness of queer issues in AI, foster a community of queer researchers and celebrate the work of queer scientists. More about us: queerinai.com

- We have just finished reviewing applications for this year's grad app scholarship. We have a total of $45684.29 in need across 70 applicants, and a current budget of $35753.54. Please consider donating to support applicants this cycle: www.paypal.com/donate/?host... 1/
- Many of our applicants mentions that GRE costs, transcript verification fees, application costs, and other expenses would cost them well over $1000. This made applying to graduate school unaffordable for many of our applicants, and forced others to empty their savings or cut back on meals. 2/
- We work hard to serve applicants from all over the world—in the past 3/4 of our applicants are not from the US. Our cohorts are very inclusive along other axes: 60% of our applicants are people of color, 1/3 are not cis, 3/
- 15% are trans or questioning, and a majority do not use he/him pronouns. While we can’t share specific application details, many have clear plans to use their education and research to support queer and their local communities. 4/4

- Last year, Queer in AI & @OUTinSTEM gave over $44,000 to more than 1000 queer scholars to cover grad school admissions, testing, & fees. Due to political repression, we are receiving less sponsorship in the past. Please help us continue this scholarship with a donation www.paypal.com/donate/?host...
- Many of these scholars experience multiple axes of marginalization: nearly half identify as BIPOC, and many live in countries where the costs of applying to grad school are several times the mean monthly income.
- In our survey, 50% of the applicants indicated that this scholarship has helped them avoid skipping rent, food, & other essentials. 50% indicated that this scholarship has helped them take admission tests.
- Reposted by Queer in AIDid you participate in our Community Pulse? The results are out, showing that representation is not enough for an inclusive workplace experience. Thanks to all contributors @blackinai.bsky.social @queerinai.com and many others!
