- I am excited that I've recently joined the editorial board of Hunter Gatherer Research (tinyurl.com/54wnbu6m), the journal of the International Society for Hunter Gatherer Research.
- If you're looking for an alternative publishing venue for your hunter-gatherer themed research outside the major money-grabbing publishing companies, why not submit to HGR? We're a society journal published by a non-profit academic publisher.
- And we practice 'low impact' review of submitted papers, where we try to help authors to tell their story, rather than having them tell another story.
- So, go on, submit your hunter-gatherer themed papers be they archaeology, social or cultural anthropology, genetics, evolutionary anthropology, indigenous rights, linguistics, ethnohistorical, empirical or theoretical!

- Please to be able to share a new paper that's just come out in Archaeological Research in Asia on Natufian and PPNA architecture at Shubayqa, which I wrote together with Lisa Yeomans and Alexis Pantos: www.sciencedirect.com/science/arti...
- We present an overview of the sequence of architecture at Shubayqa 1 and 6 and discuss questions surrounding permanence of construction and settlement, using the concept of 'quick' and 'slow' architecture.
- We argue that just because people used stone for construction, doesn't mean that buildings were meant to be permanent. Natufian and Neolithic architecture tended to be interpreted from a functional and 'built environment' perspective.
- We propose an alternative, more nuanced perspective that takes into account the rythms of inhabitation and the life biographies of buildings.
