- COMING TO NINTENDO SWITCH ONLINE…THE UNREDACTED EPSTEIN LIST
- One must imagine Sisyphus had swag.
- Hi…I am trans and have a YouTube channel where I talk about movies because that’s my favorite thing and also my career. If you want video essays on film, uhhh check me out? I guess? youtube.com/@adequateemily
- After seeing Send Help I can confirm I’m without a doubt a Linda defender
- Watched Penguin Lessons and it’s funny to me that they turned a true story into the mix of stereotypical “pet saved me” and “unorthodox teacher motivates students” movie you’d expect. But…it happened during a fascist coup. So they added a side plot where I’m Not Here happens?
- The way the story interacts with facsism was completely made up, the only true part is it was a fascist coup while the teacher had a penguin, and people did technically disappear during that time in Argentina. And yet…it’s probably the most fascinating part of the movie.
- Like at times it’s hard to not see an adaptation of a memoir about teaching with a penguin happening besides a completely different, more interesting historical fictional film that the writer seems more invested in. And you’re like “you can just make that movie?”
- I do think it is at this point a little weird that Kendrick has been nominated for album of the year at the Grammys for 6 albums in a row and won none of them. Like statistically…that feels like it’s gotta be the first in a long time if ever.
- For the record, I personally probably wouldn’t have picked GNX this year, I think he’s had stronger more cohesive records, but like…every year it seems more wild that GKMC, TPAB, and DAMN. didn’t win it. It feels absurd.
- Hell GKMC at least lost to Daft Punk’s biggest most prestigious record and TPAB to Taylor’s most popular album…DAMN. lost to 24K Magic which is a good record with some fun Bruno songs but…it was against DAMN. and Melodrama, it still seems kinda bizarre.
- I didn’t really like Iron Lung, but I can’t help but be inspired by its story and root for Mark. Like…knowing that was a person self-financing, writing, directing, and starring in their first ever attempt at a film…hard to not respect it.
- Particularly as a filmmaker working on YouTube right now, like in a way he did what I dream of one day doing, and did it all on his own.
- My only thing would be to add that the same respect for Stuckmann’s Shelby Oaks, which I felt like got dunked on here for months, despite the fact I think it was honestly even more impressive of a first attempt. Like they both deserve respect for just doing it.
-
View full threadI think they both exist in that spectrum of “technically flawed but can sway you if you felt it.”
- “Little St James was cool” is the weirdest excuse I’ve ever seen for someone being on the list. “Yeah he was on the child sex island, but have you considered the child sex island might’ve been awesome?” This is defending Elon btw
- If my opinion isn’t clear, I’ll state it: I think any person who was around that shit, knew of it, and had the power to stop it but didn’t is completely past all forgiveness possible, and their legacies should be stamped with “aided the sexual abuse and trafficking of children.”
- I am usually against the death penalty as I do believe that our system can sometimes get it wrong and kill innocent people or that we should focus on rehabilitation and reparations when possible… But at this scale, there is no rehabilitation or reparation, they need to be gone.
- I enjoy Matt Reeves’ The Batman, but I do have to admit Andy Serkis is the weakest Alfred in any of the main theatrical films.
- Which isn’t even Serkis’ fault, it’s just he’s competing with Michael Gough, Michael Caine, Jeremy Irons, and the voice of Ralph Fiennes, and those are all time picks that feel perfect. Comparatively…Serkis is fine. Honestly I’m just sad the Irons casting only lasted two movies.
- I…did not like Iron Lung
- Am I just a snob? I dunno I liked parts of it but the sound design was cluttered and muddy and the dialogue could get a bit much for me in terms of the quips…and while I think Mark has potential as a director…I wouldn’t have him as his leading man next time. He felt…limited.
