- When we're using these scores diachronically and looking at how they track economic growth or not, we ought at least to be asking how far they are a good measure of what they purport to tell us about. I'm really not sure that they are (but open to rebuttal). Here's @jburnmurdoch.ft.com piece

It includes a particular focus on how well institutions keep the executive in check, as well as capturing executive pressure on independent agencies etc
