I never heard of this sandwich until I went to college in New England (I grew up in New Jersey, so it seemed hyper-regional).
It was the mainstay of the Friendly's Restaurant menu.

Or just make one on your own. Toast the bread. Put some tuna salad on one slice, drape some cheese over it, then broil for a few moments to melt the cheese. Top with the other toasted slice of bread.
I'm not a tuna fan, but I like tuna melts. Go figure.
