An open letter Jeff Bezos and Washington Post leadership:

A Letter to Jeff Bezos and The Washington Post
Dear Jeff Bezos and the leadership team of The Washington Post...

I like your post, but I PERSONALLY KNOW several people who have received many tens of thousands of dollars in gvt. benefits, not because they TRULY need it. But because they don’t like or want to work. How many billionaires do you actually know that are getting corporate welfare. Both are problems
One problem is about a billion times bigger than the other. One has a significant impact on your life, the other doesn't. Unless you somehow have infinite time and resources, maybe drop the "both sides" bullshit and focus on what actually matters.
Ok! Let’s tax all the billionaires and put them in the poor house, bankrupt their businesses (how many people make a living making Teslas or delivering packages?). And give all the money to the needy! That way someone I know can sit at home play video games 100+hours / week and draw benefits!!
Strawman characterization of my statement, but whatever.
If fair taxation causes a business to go bankrupt, that business should be bankrupt. Billionaires get far more benefit from their tax dodge than whoever you're talking about playing video games and collecting benefits.
Look at PPP fraud, for instance. Very little of that federal aid actually went to paychecks. Instead, it went directly to the pockets of business owners. Over $200B in fraudulent "loans" that won't be repaid. You crying about that? Welfare benefits to a single individual are less than $1000/month.
The PPP fraud alone could have covered welfare benefits for every single American for a month. Now look at all the other grift even greater than that. Maybe see a therapist about your fixation on your video game-playing acquaintance so you can focus on problems that actually affect you.
The wealthy are not paying enough in taxes! 100%! But we need entitlement reform too! How about transmitting your banking information for me, so you can give my friend $1500 a month so he can go back to 100+ hours / week playing video games and you support him. Taxpayers did for 5+ years!
Nevertheless, he perseverated.
Yawn.
I’m middle class, work full time. Between income tax, sales tax, property tax. Etc……. Essentially all my taxes go to him so he can sit at home and play video games all day every day. You are ok with that??? If so.. then again please start sending check for him!! He’d like that!
proximity bias, look into it
