- Reposted by Leon SalterAll lobbying correspondence, emails, texts etc and transcripts of conversations should have to be posted on a publicly accessible website promptly along with the replies. Nothing should be redacted and no lobbying should happen in secret. Democracy dies in darkness.
- Reposted by Leon SalterThe thing the Epstein case keeps emphasising is that Trump's central political virtue is impunity. The person who deserves to be punished possibly more than any other name in the files, is currently the person least likely to be. The entire moral economy of guilt & retribution gets upended by this.
- Reposted by Leon SalterExactly. Paywalls have reduced the amount of well-researched and documented essays & articles to reach the public. It’s created a less well-informed and more homogenized base of info from which to form one’s own opinions. Then what is out there becomes copied without credit on revenue platforms.

- Reposted by Leon SalterSunday 25 October is the date to focus on, being the mandatory enrollment deadline. Stuff reported over 200,000 people enrolled or updated their details in the final 12 days before the last election, who would miss out this time. Make sure all your friends & whanau are enrolled to vote: vote.nz

- Reposted by Leon SalterMandelson claims he was “kept separate” from Epstein’s crimes because he’s gay. Yet stayed in touch until 2016 & on the eve of Epstein being jailed for child sex abuse charges, wrote: “I think the world of you & I feel hopeless & furious”, urged him to “fight for early release”, & offered support.

- I feel for the people of Greenland, who should not have their sovereignty threatened. At the same time it is interesting to see the shock to the neo-colonial system (aka NATO). European nations are used to being the ones doing the threatening, not being threatened. That's for brown, poor nations.

- Reposted by Leon SalterThe world is rightly outraged by the illegality of Trump’s invasion of Venezuela. But an invasion motivated by converting the world’s largest oil reserves into CO₂ emissions is not just a crime against international law - it’s an unconscionable and sadistic assault against our entire planet.
- Reposted by Leon SalterDonald Trump won’t stop with Venezuela. Cuba, Greenland, Colombia and Mexico are already in his crosshairs. This is U.S. imperialism, plain and simple — and it must be resisted in all its forms.

- Reposted by Leon SalterIsn't it odd that the United States has enough money to suddenly run Venezuela, but not enough to run our own country? There is always cash in the piggy bank for bombs to kill people, but never for healthcare to keep them alive.
