- Two Ranking Members of the senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee sent this letter to the OSC, requesting a swift investigation into the illegal retaliation against Katrina Declaration signers including the investigation DHS/FEMA launched, on Oct 17th.
- It’s encouraging to see oversight and accountability finally taking shape for these signers. This matters to those of us who believe in protecting truth-tellers and upholding integrity in public service.
- Calling all artists. This is yet another “let them eat cake” example. They really don’t care who lives or dies so long as they’re in control and making money.

- If CPD grants was 1st, 2nd at HUD to receive the boot was the Office of Environment and Energy. I know you’re all super surprised based on the name right? But this office was doing some pretty incredible work guiding HUD policy around floodplain management, energy codes & building technology.
- 3rd was part of an office called the Real Estate Assessment Center (REAC), a relatively benign place that oversees among other things, inspections for all of HUD’s rental assistance programs. They oversee the inspections that make sure Section 8 and Public Housing properties are not slum housing.
- 4th was the incredibly woke office of housing counselors. You know the people who help people figure how to do such woke things such as improving their credit scores, lowering debt, or even how to keep their homes in times of crisis. Not even offices serving the so called American dream are safe.
- So the regime is anti-affordable housing, quality housing and safe housing. It’s pro keeping people in debt and away from the American dream of homeownership and happy to have people lose their homes when they fall on hard times. I’m not surprised are you?
- In addition to kneecapping FHEO, (remember the denials?). RIFs dealt huge blows to CPD HQ staff that fund affordable housing development, community infrastructure, relocation and down payment assistance & even meals on wheels. A few more notable offices were decimated & will post more on that soon.
- Somehow I missed this gem in the Washington Post. If you have continued to subscribe I ask you reconsider. The “opinion” piece says anyone deemed non-essential is “fat” to be trimmed & that it’s questionable whether they deserve back pay for not working. Is paying bills optional too?

- 1. Correction we are allowed to check for RIF Notices since they’re personnel actions however most aren’t or think they can’t. 2. Update I saw a number of more than 400 at HUD. 3. They appear to be eliminating entire positions. This prevents reassignment.

- The economy is fragile. Especially locally. Keep an eye on foreclosures and why they are up 17%. We cannot afford this shutdown. We cannot afford RIFs. We cannot afford Trump’s major disruption on so many fronts: agriculture, energy, supply chain/ manufacturing, labor AND government, plus more.

- This Office like most of HUD is closed thanks to the GOP, but neither democrats nor republicans have properly funded public housing programs at the level they need or needed for decades.
