I regularly visit Eastern European towns. They once were 95% Jewish. Today, there is barely any evidence of the 1000 years of Jewish life in the region. ICE and the Nazis / Germans are not the same. People were killed for harboring Jews. It feels good to say you would have stood up to the Nazis.

But I find it glib and not cognizant of the actual situation to say so. Too few people did stand up to the Nazis. SIX million were murdered. Follow the Auschwitz Museum account on Bluesky. Little babies, sweet children learning to read, non-Jewish Poles who were unionists or otherwise undesirable.
