Das AIP ist an zentralen technischen Arbeitspaketen beteiligt. 🌌 www.aip.de/de/news/blue...
- Really happy that I was able to witness the signing of this instrument by ESO. Congrats Johan Richard 🥳 (the PI). Before the ceremony, some of the consortium members took some group pictures, great team that built on the experience of building MUSE!
- We signed the agreement for the construction of BlueMUSE, a new instrument for our VLT ✍️ Anticipated to see first-light in 2034, it will enable detailed observations within our galaxy and help study the distant Universe. eso.org/public/announcement… 🔭 🧪 #instrumentation 📷 ESO

- Cool, just heard from @galacticrave.bsky.social that the INNA project next to ESO Paranal region has been called off and thereby preserving the dark skies over Paranal, Armazones and La Chira. www.aesandes.com/en/press-rel...

- Most happy for Delroy Lindo in the Oscar nominations. Saw him way back when I was a kid in "Malcolm X" and have been impressed ever since. Long overdue!
- Reposted by Tanya UrrutiaThis is an excellent analogy, because my recollection from grade school is that the pen on the right looks fun and exciting, and then you play with it for a few minutes and realize it's not actually useful for anything and in fact makes some tasks more cumbersome, and never think about it again.

- Number 26 movie of my 100 movies 1925-2024. Happy new movie year, everybody!
- Finally Rhea Seehorn is getting some love after so many seasons of snubbing in "Better Call Saul". Love ya, Kim and Carol.

- It's that time of the year where I recap my best movies watched in 2025. I enjoy this a lot! This time I actually made it to 106 new movies watched, yay!. So I think I will make 3 lists. One for the 100 movies blog (1925-1949), one for movies between 1950-2023 and one for the newer movies.
- Number 25 of my 100 movies 1925-2024 and the last one in 2025.

- Reposted by Tanya UrrutiaThe cultural impact of Rob Reiner cannot be understated. Legend isn't big enough a word. It goes to 11. You can't handle the truth. As you wish. I'll have what she's having. I'm your number one fan. You guys wanna see a dead body? The very idea of a bucket list. The West Wing. All from his movies.
- Apt quote. RIP Rob Reiner.

- I've completed Part One of "Laboratories" - Day 7 - Advent of Code 2025 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2025/day/7 Still working on part 2, but I had more fun creating the movie than to count states. "'Tis the season to be jolly..."
- I've completed "Trash Compactor" - Day 6 - Advent of Code 2025 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2025/day/6 Part 1 was a 2-liner with astropy.ascii.read() - all ready for Table manipulation. Part 2 needed a bit of counting spaces, but went well (unlike part 2 of yesterday, which I haven't solved).
- I just completed "Printing Department" - Day 4 - Advent of Code 2025 #AdventOfCode adventofcode.com/2025/day/4 I love these grid problems. And the end state (right plot) looks quite fractal.
- My daughter's Spotify Wrapped age is 64, while mine is 21. 🤣 But she's into vinyl and cool 70s music, so it tracks!
