- Reposted by Party Like It’s 1939I want to take a moment to honor the late Jerry Lawson, the Electronic Engineer who led the design of the 'Fairchild Channel F' console and also designed the FIRST interchangeable game (ROM) cartridges. The game industry wouldn't be what it is today without Jerry's brilliance. (cont..)
- Reposted by Party Like It’s 1939And yes, this WAS a huge deal. 1970s consoles had games built into them and couldn't be changed. Jerry's work made it so games were able to be stored on cartridges that could be removed repeatedly without damaging the components OR electrically shocking the user! (no, seriously) (cont..)
- Reposted by Party Like It’s 1939The Atari 2600, NES, SNES, Genesis, etc. wouldn't have existed without Jerry's work. Period. This man quite literally changed video games and we all owe him so much for paving the way for those who followed his work afterward. Thank you, Jerry. May you continue to Rest in Peace.
