Please consider forwarding them our call for proposals at phil-econ-model-lab.org. We are assembling a group of young scholars to collaborate at the cutting-edge of these topics #philsi #econ
- Looking forward to attending this workshop later this week. I will be presenting work looking at the interplay between transparency and opacity in the context of avatars and AI systems: avataresponsibility.ccea.ro/2025-edition/
- Briefly put, while I think transparency about the purposes and the different social aspects involved in the system is necessary, I argue that opacity can be both a challenge (to understanding what the avatar is doing) and a useful feature for avoiding harm owing to its resemblance to humans
- Early career philosophers of science may be interested in this online series providing career advice organized by EPSA. I will also be speaking at the session discussing postdocs and tenure-track opportunities: docs.google.com/document/d/1...
- @kaameshsingam.bsky.social May be of interest
- Of interest to those working in ethical and legal aspects of the use of animals in biomedical research. Katarzyna Żebrowska's paper shows that different ethical considerations apply to human vs. animal participants explaining why this is a problem and sketching out ways forward: rdcu.be/elhvJ
- Postdoc opportunity in a Krakow that may be of interest to those working on social epistemology and related areas:
- This online seminar organized at BBU Cluj-Napoca may be of interest to those working in philosophy of science, social epistemology and related areas. (Note that the scheduling is at Bucharest time): philevents.org/event/show/1...
- Here is a podcast recorded by a colleague in Krakow discussing the concept of epistemic injustice: www.youtube.com/watch?v=wPgF...
- I found the applied parts especially interesting, such as finding examples of testimonial and hermeneutical injustice in connection to animals - stemming from classic philosophical approaches not considering animals as knowers but moving beyond that: www.youtube.com/watch?v=lW6J...
- Also this episode on hermeneutical injustice and psychiatric diagnosis drawing on qualitative interviews, particularly how diagnosis could play not only an interpretative role, but also connect to one's identity, which raises further questions about epistemic justice: www.youtube.com/watch?v=vsk1...
- Reposted by Elena Popa🚨 Final Reminder: PSA Around the World 2025! 🌍 Submit your abstract until tomorrow (April 13, 11:59 PM PST)! Open to all PSA members, no matter where you're located or what your topic is—as long as it’s within the philosophy of science!
- Reposted by Elena PopaIn March, Sandra Harding died. With colleagues from (then) Women's Studies at Utrecht University, where Harding's work was pivotal in PhD training & where I had the pleasure to organize a PhD workshop, together with María Puig de Bellacasa, with Sandra, we wrote this piece. Honoring the pioneers.
- I have been presenting co-authored work drawing on deliberative systems to approach questions about the political legitimacy of value laden science here. Article soon forthcoming hopefully. gwp2025.sciencesconf.org
- Reposted by Elena Popa"It’s a shame that you can’t afford rent, but we can offer epistemic compensation." - my paper on relating epistemic and social justice is out. Mostly written as self-therapy, struggling with my own scholarship. But we also need a broader discussion on ways forward in "epistemic injustice" debates.

- In my new paper I argue that transparency about scientific disagreements in vaccine research is not sufficient to foster public trust and that a fair resolution is needed. The conditions for fairness are institutional rather than interpersonal. diametros.uj.edu.pl/diametros/ar...

- Reposted by Elena Popawhy are these evaluations used in hiring, promotion or tenure files? They have no statistical value as assessments and they are actively discriminatory against anyone not a cis able-bodied white man. How many more papers like this do we need to stop using them?
- My chapter 'Decision Making, Values and Trust in Science: Two Cases from Public Health' is now out in the volume below. It is the first piece where I explored the ideas that developed into my recently finished project (hope to share more publications on that soon). books.google.ro/books?hl=en&...
- The chapter looks at two cases where injustice in public health decisions led to distrust in science. Taking distrust to be legitimate in these cases, I go on to argue that trust is more than an epistemic notion, requiring justice and equity as part of the decision-making process.
