- Reposted by Tom JackmanCall me woke and annoying, but I TRULY do not see how you could support the Dodgers as a fan after this. And yes, I'd say this about the Blue Jays if they'd won and made the same choice. I don't give a fuck about team loyalty. Talk to the Epstein files about it. www.latimes.com/sports/dodge...

- Hats off to these people for recreating and running the work of a government, the same necessary work that our ineffective governments are declining to do.

- Reposted by Tom JackmanIf you’re being threatened for telling the truth, first, you’re not alone; and second, you’re a thousand times the scientist and educator than any of the men trying to silence you ever will be. Working on (vs. within) systems of oppression is difficult and scary. It’s also our only way forward.

- Reposted by Tom JackmanI truly don't understand why this isn't a priority for the Canadian government. What's more likely, a full-scale military invasion, or Trump in a fit of demented rage demands all US companies hosting Canadian government data shut off our access, and they comply (because that's what US CEOs do)?
- I don't think gassing children is the winning move the U.S. administration thinks it is. “Good job. They’ve just made more young enemies for life.”
- ICE tear gassed a bunch of children on Saturday. This was a massive escalation of force. They were shooting tear gas at the back of the crowd, it took these unmasked people maybe 3-5 minutes in the cloud of tear gas to escape in without trampling. www.theverge.com/policy/87278...

- Reposted by Tom JackmanReminder: journalists get arrested in Canada too. In fact, The Narwhal is in court right now challenging the RCMP for arresting photojournalist Amber Bracken. Our editor-in-chief,Carol Linnitt, testifies today and Monday, and court is open to the public if you're in Vancouver.

- Reposted by Tom JackmanMy bar for politicians is not high. I want them to care about eugenics and disabled people. Because without that, we don't stand much of a chance defeating fascism. If some of us are deemed disposable, eventually other groups will be too

- Reposted by Tom JackmanA reminder to the news media: “conflicting accounts” is what you say BEFORE the incontrovertible video evidence appears. After that, your job is to ask why one side is lying, not to repeat the lie and pretend no one knows the truth.

- Reposted by Tom JackmanDrop the names of any Canadian companies you’ve seen working with ICE in the comments. I’m aware of Gardaworld, Roshel, Hootsuite. Would love to gather any and all other names.
- Reposted by Tom JackmanAbolish ICE is now the moderate minimum position, Prosecute ICE is where Dems should be at next.
- Reposted by Tom JackmanI don’t think we should be using words like “innocent” or “US citizen” or “bystander” or things like that because — what if someone was an undocumented immigrant with a criminal record? Would they deserve this? No one deserves to be executed on the street in cold blood.
- Reposted by Tom JackmanAs many Canadians expected, Trump has returned to form and is threatening Canada with 100% tariffs if we do not heel to his trade demands, now including who we strike deals with (like China). He also called Carney "governor", a return to his direct attempts to subjugate us and threaten annexation.

- Reposted by Tom JackmanMeasles is coming back. Polio will be back. COVID never went away. The "you do you" approach to public health is an abject failure. The rejection of Science, Engineering and Industrial Hygiene by too many "leaders" has led us to this point. People will die needlessly.
- This aspect of Canadian healthcare funding has always vexed me: tax dollars cover the salaries of medical personnel and treatments, but usually fail to adequately fund medical infrastructure and equipment costs (which of course are necessary for treatment). Patients really do end up paying twice.

- I feel like people are downplaying the scale of the possible US theft of Greenland. I know Greenland isn't Mercator-projection big, but it's still massive: it would increase the total territory of the United States (including Alaska) by nearly a quarter (23.7%)!

- Indeed, but ICE is not an occupying force; ICE is a terrorizing force. They don't have the numbers to be an occupying force. At a certain point the sheer numbers of people in the streets will simply overwhelm ICE's ability to inflict fear. The moment of shock is transient.

A tip: if their bio says something like, “if you own the original, DM me,” you can tell they are happy to steal, mislead, and profit off other people’s work (and don’t want to be called out about it in public). Personally, I block on sight.
