- Reposted by Justin StarrDecades ago, when I first started learning guitar, I picked up a really weird habit of using an alternative open G. When @urbanastronyc.bsky.social pointed it out, I was scratching my head on where I got this. Finally found the answer: Jimmy Page In Tangerine, one of the 1st songs I learned. 🎸
- Hey yall. We started to foster this lil guy a week ago and have moved to adopt. We’ve almost pinned down a name. We think he’s a lab/pit mix, and possibly others. He is the sweetest bundle of love… when he’s not in a puppy zoomie state being a razor-wire-mouthed Baby Shark 😂🦈
- Our shrine to Oscar is almost done. My parents got him that pillow many years ago. The wooden box houses his ashes. We just need one more thing… either a shadow box or a particular type of picture frame that holds a collar (leaning forwards shadow box - I’ve seen lovely pet memorials on Etsy)
- Thank you all for your kind words about the passing of my dear Oscar. It was nice to see so many familiar faces from the Twitter days who used to see pics of him regularly. I miss him terribly. The Best Boy. 🌈🐕💔
- On Sunday he seemed a perfectly healthy and normal dog until the later afternoon when he had a massive seizure. Over the next two days he deteriorated rapidly, with behavioral and neurological signs indicative of a likely brain tumor/mass.
- Thankfully we were able to bring him from the hospital on Tuesday. Though he could not walk nor stand, and his face was twitching and his breathing erratic, he became noticeably calmer when we got home. My parents were able to come to say their tear-strewn goodbyes with pets and rubs and scratches.

- I’m rarely on here and I don’t know who of my old Twitter friends are still here, but at the risk of screaming into the void: We will be saying farewell to my boy Oscar today. He just turned 14 last Wednesday. It’s all very sudden. I’m absolutely devastated. He is the best boy.
- Happy New Year from New York. May your year be filled with love, joy, and good health. We face some big challenges ahead but remember to take care of yourself too: You can’t pour from an empty cup. Love to all.

- I’ve decided to rewatch Attack on Titan. Just got to the opening title and sequence and I never noticed it starts with singing in German! „Sind sie das Essen? Nein, wir sind die Jäger!“ Are you (the) food? No, we are the Scouts*! 1/2
- *Jäger can also mean Hunters or Light Infantry. And of course, it’s also Eren’s last name. “Scouts” may is likely the best translation as that’s the unit they will all belong to. 2/2

Especially when those efforts result in demonstrably lower numbers of qualified Black people the ranks? Start calling these folks pro-segregation.

- I just wanted you to know that the first two episodes of season 3 were absolutely SOLID. The ending of 1 was a banger and they - correctly - played different during the credits. I cried a few times during eps 1 and 2 which means im more invested and they’re doing their job. 1/2
- Also, so far character actions are much more motivated by more than just “bc the story needs this to happen,” and the one the one character choice in ep 1 that annoyed me they actually called the character out for it ep 2 so… that’s good! Hopefully season 3 continues strongly! 2/2

- I just watched the second season of “From” and I’m really sorry to say… I was grateful disappointed. It wasn’t a “Heroes”-level drop in quality but… it just didn’t work for me. So much unmotivated yelling, swearing, and decision-making. (I love swearing but this felt oddly forced). 1/2
- I’m going to watch season 3 but I saw some reviews saying 3 was weaker than the first two so I’m a little nervous. I LOVED season 1. And all through 2 I’m just like… what the hell are you all doing? I hope the writers aren’t pulling an Abrams-maneuver and making it up as they go along. 2/2

- Rewatching the 2004 Dawn of the Dead and I just wanna say, I’m glad it was the first feature film in Zakk Snyder’s catalogue. This movie would have been much worse with that extreme shallow depth of field he employed in Army of the Dead and the Rebel Moon movies. 1/3
- Also, I know actors are not the characters they play. But man it’s never NOT jarring to see Ty “Phil Dunphy” Burrell be a total douche canoe in this film. 2/3
- Also… zombie baby. It’s a little quaint now, but feel like that was a real gutsy element to include in 2004. Not sure anything like that had been done before. Damn. 3/3
- Reposted by Justin StarrPeople are still unearthing the old stories, and I'd argue that new movies and books of Christmas horror stories are in the same tradition. www.goodreads.com/author_blog_...
- In the song “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year” (1963, Pola & Wyle) there’s the lyric: “We’ll tell scary ghost stories and tales of the glories of Christmases long, long ago.” Speaking as an American Jew, I feel commercialized Christmas is missing out on the ghost stories aspect. 1/2
- The tradition of sitting around a fire telling ghost stories on Christmas apparently goes back to Victorian England. Bring. It. Back. 2/2

Guessing it's in the same genus (Ophryastes) as a similar, smaller one I found 2 weeks ago in the Mojave, but not sure. #insects 🐙🌿

- So while I’ve been ill I decided to rewatch/binge the first season of The Punisher, which I have not watched since 2017. I did not realize that David “Micro” Lieberman was Ebon Moss-Bachrach. So Jon Bernthal and Moss-Bachrach went from partners in The Punisher to best friends in The Bear (2022).

- @timisham.bsky.social hey man. As a choral guy, I’m a lot less familiar with the orchestral/band composers. So I asked my coworker who just came up to the middle school from the elementary school if he knew your name and he was like “I just did one of his pieces last year!” :)
- He had nothing but good things to say about your music :)

- So I did it. I submitted 4 choral pieces to one publisher (one that specializes in music for education, as 3 of them are written for middle school choir; and in church music, as the other is a sacred anthem), and my 1 concert band piece and 3 orchestra pieces to another publisher. Now… I wait. 🫠
- Reposted by Justin StarrMy favorite podcast ad right now is the one trying to sell you on moving to Ohio because so many people have had awesome careers there … and then they list people like John Glenn and Neal Armstrong who were certainly *born* in Ohio but maybe are not known for conducting their careers there.
