- Every single time your memes or discussions about who should host Muppet Show episodes or who should be the only human in a movie otherwise recast entirely with Muppets circulate, you got me like this, I'm sorry
- My choices for tonight's family video round: Wayne's World sketch; Gonzo singing "Dancing with Myself" on MUPPETS TONIGHT; Siskel & Ebert arguing about COP AND A HALF; Carly Rae Jepsen "Beach House" video; Phoebe Bridgers doing "I Know the End" on SNL
- Ella McCay's next term as governor of the state she was born and raised in begins TODAY on Hulu/Disney+ and I finally wrote about a movie I saw twice last year decider.com/2026/02/05/e...

- I got lost in a holiday rush in December and never actually promoted this but I had a GREAT time talking HOW DO YOU KNOW and late-period James L. Brooks on Exiting Through the 2010s! With ELLA MCCAY coming to Hulu tomorrow, maybe now's the time! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/h...
- I'M CHEVY CHASE AND YOU'RE NOT gives Chevy and Aykroyd a real gift by sticking SPIES LIKE US in with Chase's highlights reel, seemingly entirely because it did pretty well and capped off his 1985, where he did indeed have three (!) box office hits within six months.
- Because some have asked, here is my MELANIA review where I fixate on how every music cue feels like a grotesque insult decider.com/2026/01/30/m...

- Now that WONDER MAN has been out for a bit, I think I can say how fucking weird it is that it namechecks THE ONLY LIVING BOY IN NEW YORK as a classic example of an indie coming-of-age movie. Legit couldn't tell if that's the show making a sly joke or just someone with Screenwriter Brain.
- MELANIA BOX OFFICE PREVIEW!!!! (Just kidding.) (Sort of.) Sort of the ultimate streaming movie, despite the theatrical release: expensive name recognition that cannot turn a profit (except for its star). www.theguardian.com/film/2026/ja...
- Marisa is in this union. Help them in their fight for a new contract! The effects of a fair & just union contract spiral out to workers' family, partners, and more!

- A glimpse behind the scenes: I went into my Friday thinking it was a light workday with only one review to write, and then spent my entire morning and beyond working on my review of SEND HELP, trying to do its fun (and limitations) proper justice. www.avclub.com/send-help-re...

- Reposted by Jesse Hassengerfor years, I’ve seen conservatives handwringing about “how to explain gay marriage/drag brunch to their kids.” it’s easy! my kid has never batted an eye. this… i don’t know how to explain this.
- For Oscar season, I got you a brand-new Together Again on Emma Stone and her Yorgos Lanthimos fixa-- er, collaboration www.avclub.com/together-aga...
- WONDER MAN really surprised me with its quiet, sincere focus (and lack of cheesy jokes). ... I'm still not sure if it's really enough for a TV series. Sort of an interesting experiment, though! www.thewrap.com/creative-con...

- So pleased to be entirely wrong about Delroy Lindo's Oscar chances, which I had left for dead after they overlooked his work in DA FIVE BLOODS. www.avclub.com/together-aga...
- Pratt actually showed up to the AMC Screen Unseen (tm) showing I saw in IMAX 3D (tm) and he violated the ethos of the movie by like, briefly walking around. But yes we got some smarm in 4DX!
- Feels like response to the A.V. Club subscription thing has been warm-ish which is nice but it's still wild to me that you have people talking like "ugh another subscription"... guys magazines were on that model first, they didn't ask you to convert your music to a monthly perpetual subscription
- We're watching PONIES and enjoying it but I'm a little distracted by how Haley Lu Richardson is doing a thing that, when her voice goes up, sounds like Jennifer Aniston.

- Can I interest you in some vampires? Yesterday was the 30th anniversary of FROM DUSK TILL DAWN, a teenage fave of mine, though not the pal I saw it with, who said its portrayal of vampires was "inaccurate" decider.com/2026/01/20/f...
- Aw fuck it's the Mystery Team www.polygon.com/mystery-team...
- I feel like ENCANTO, one of the best Disney song scores with a terrific emotional hook, should be able to beat a difficult adaptation job (that Walt himself wasn't all that fond of, IIRC!) pretty handily! And I'm not just saying that because I know Lin from college!!
- I catch juuuuust enough terrible YouTube stuff from my kid (who thankfully talks like a person) that I can attest to its accuracy and find it funny but sometimes it does cross the line into just doing a thing that a lot of people do that is annoying.
- BOB'S BURGERS S1: Hey this new Fox cartoon is pretty funny. BOB'S BURGERS S8: Jesus, that show has been going this whole time??!? BOB'S BURGERS S16: I find the relationship between Zeke and Jimmy Jr strangely touching. Tina is a good role model in many ways. I would die for Teddy.
- Yes yes, The Strokes and what have you...the band that evokes early 2000s NYC most vividly for me is Bishop Allen.
- The best movie out this weekend, among those I've seen anyway, is 28 YEARS LATER: THE BONE TEMPLE. I like the previous entry more but this is still strong stuff. Nia DaCosta's best movie so far? Reviewed it for the A.V. Club: www.avclub.com/28-years-lat...
