Greg Stohr
Supreme Court reporter for Bloomberg News. Occasional professor. Opinions to the extent I give them are my own.
- Mind-blowing that in year 2026, one can go to a federal court's website and not be able to find a newly issued major opinion. (Don't worry - I got it.)
- Reposted by Greg StohrNEW: With SCOTUS poised to rule on Trump's tariffs as soon as Friday, more than 1,000 companies -- big, small, public, private -- already have filed lawsuits seeking refunds for their share of the billions of dollars in duties paid so far if the administration loses www.bloomberg.com/news/feature...

- For whatever reason, reporters weren’t allowed in to the dinner until after these comments were made. FedSoc convention normally very open to press but weirdly secretive when it comes to the big dinner.

- Reposted by Greg StohrJust to be clear, #SCOTUS has done nothing to indicate any interest in this case besides calling for a response—something that a *single* justice can request, and that is *not* remotely predictive of a cert. grant. Everything else is standard practice for *all* cases filed in the Supreme Court.
- Reposted by Greg StohrShutdown fallout: Court fights over Trump policies are being paused amid the government funding impasse. DOJ is seeking delays across civil cases; in DC, the chief judge entered a blanket pause order, though cases involving requests for immediate judicial intervention are excluded buff.ly/rKraJve

- BREAKING: Trump asks Supreme Court to let him fire last remaining Democrat on Federal Trade Commission. Seeks both full review and temporary order. Case could overturn Humphrey's Executor.
- Says a lot about the moment we are in that so many judges are willing to publicly criticize the Supreme Court, even if they are not being identified by name.
- 🚨EXCLUSIVE: Federal judges tell NBC News the Supreme Court has got to do a better job of explaining emergency rulings, with frequent decisions in favor of Trump at least appearing to validate harsh criticism of the judiciary at a time of rising threats: www.nbcnews.com/politics/sup...
- NEW: Trump appeals to Supreme Court on his global tariffs, seeks argument in early November, accg to documents seen by Bloomberg. DOJ says other side has agreed to schedule. Story w/ @zoetillman.bsky.social on its way.
- We'll see what Scotus thinks, but this story from May is aging pretty well so far, I'd say. Federal Circuit leans into "major questions doctrine" in declaring Trump's global tariffs illegal. www.bloomberg.com/news/article...
- Reposted by Greg StohrThis is an excellent article by @gregstohr.bsky.social. [For Trump's critics] "the past seven months have revealed just how fragile the rule of law is, as the Trump administration’s determination to push legal bounds collides with the Supreme Court’s willingness to go along."

- Enjoyed talking to @scottdetrow.bsky.social yesterday about the birthright citizenship ruling and the rest of the #SCOTUS term. www.npr.org/2025/06/28/n...
- As I spend my morning reading opinion after opinion I wish I’d been able to read yesterday, I’m reminded what a disservice it is to all of us for SCOTUS to operate this way. So many rulings so quickly makes it impossible for any of us to adequately understand them.
