91 years young & still embracing the future. Korean War veteran, civil rights advocate, pioneer in computer education. Former top ECPI sales rep, door-to-door legend, world traveler & proud family man. I try and answer all comments in time. 92 this March.
- I just read a beautiful story about a guy named Steve Pruitt. He shared that whenever he was searching for new goals or a new career path, he chose sales. Sales was how he grew, expanded, and kept moving forward.
- Great news. Seventeen Republicans joined Democrats to approve the Affordable Care Act. Now we need the Senate to follow through. I think they will, especially with a little pressure from their constituents.
- Merry Christmas!
- Sad to see the Kansas City Chiefs get eliminated from the playoffs. Even though I live in Atlanta and reluctantly support the Falcons, I was still pulling for KC. I guess I’m left rooting for my favorite NCAA team, the UConn Huskies women’s basketball squad. 🏀
- When I was a young boy, I had the opportunity to spend a lot of time with my uncle Lee. He probably influenced me more than anybody else in my life. He taught me how to be bold, how to be aggressive when it mattered, and not to be afraid of anyone. (1/5)
- Haven’t posted in a while, so here’s an update. I saw three doctors in three days last week, which was a bit harrowing, but I made it through in one piece. One of them asked if getting older is stressful. I told him honestly it’s not exactly what it’s cracked up to be.
- Another eye lid surgery today. Might be a minute before I jump back on or reply. This will be the fourth eye lid surgery this year. Wish me luck.
- That was great that young people were out in force on Saturday. This is just the beginning though. It got everyone’s attention. The maga people know they have to stop this now. They realize they cannot let this become a national movement that spreads and gains real power.
- I hope everyone gets out there this Saturday for the No Kings protest. Don’t let fear or doubt keep you home. I’ve seen a lot in 91 years, and change only happens when people stand up and are counted. The civil rights movement proved that. Your voice still matters—use it!
- When I was 14, I got brave and asked my dad for a few dollars. He looked me dead in the eye and said, “I’ll loan it to you, but you’ll have to find a way to pay me back.” That one line stuck with me — it wasn’t just about money; it was about learning how to earn.
- Friday night I sat up all night watching that Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers game that went on forever. I fell asleep, woke up, and it was still on. I could not believe how long it lasted. Baseball sure can test your patience sometimes.
- I see a lethargic sentiment settling over this country that I have never seen before. It scares the hell out of me. I am 91 and this country is in bad shape. Take MAGA Republicans. Does anyone really know what they want? There is a deep longing to go back to a time when everyone knew their place.
- Sorry I haven’t posted in a while. I had an eye procedure last week, and my vision’s been blurry, but I thought I’d check in. Glad to see Jimmy Kimmel back. It makes me think of shows that pushed boundaries, like the Smothers Brothers in the ’60s, who clashed with CBS over politics.
- Getting another eyelid surgery tomorrow. Hoping the 3rd time is the charm. Wish me luck.
- In the early 60s, I was appointed National Sales Manager at ECPI. I was proud, but also stunned—no Black man had ever held that role in an all-white company. The president told me, “Don’t blame me for the hell you’re about to encounter. Be strong and trust your instincts.”
- If you think you’ve seen the worst of Trump, you haven’t. He’s still trying to get Congress fully on his side, and if that happens, next year we’ll see some truly dark stuff that will shock people.
- Back in the early 1960s, I was national sales manager for ECPI. Whenever I visited a city with one of our schools, I’d take the sales crew to dinner. One time, a rep suggested an upscale restaurant. Seven of us, dressed sharp, arrived with a reservation, ready to eat.
- Well folks, what I feared is here. The Supreme Court just gave Trump power to stop and search people based on looks. Doesn’t this echo the early Nazi regime, when anyone suspected of being Jewish was stopped? Our country falls when the Court sides with a lunatic leader.
- Watched the Falcons game today. It was a good one overall. But when it came down to a 37 yard field goal to force overtime I had déjà vu. Last year Koo missed 5 crucial kicks, and I thought here we go again. I tried to place a bet online. Sure enough the kick hit the post. The legend continues.
- Switched from T-Mobile to Mint and I have to say I'm impressed. My son was paying $180 for all of our phones per month, now my phone bill is $180 every year. The call quality is just as good. If anyone is on the fence about switching, give these low-cost providers a shot.
- The weaknesses Trump is taking advantage of will one day be fixed, making our system stronger and fairer. My only question, at 91, is whether I’ll live long enough to see it. I hope I do, because if elections hold, this nation still has the ability to protect itself and live up to its promise.
- I went to my eye doctor to chat about eyelid surgery scheduled in September. It’s the same procedure I had last year, but that doctor didn’t do it right after two tries. He even wanted a third attempt, but I declined and chose a new doctor instead. Do your due diligence and avoid Thomas Eye Group.
- Trump’s plan to gain control of our country is clear. Those who voted for him will feel the tariffs and his vengeful attacks. He’s a spoiled New York brat who only knows vengeance, never honest effort. I wonder what America will look like when he’s done.
- Need to send everyone a big hello. I am still alive and kicking. Thinking back to when we had a bad president, Richard Nixon. Now we have someone I see as the next Hitler, using troops in DC to distract from Epstein, test the waters, & tighten control. This is not ok. People need to hit the streets!
