Making dagger.io. Before that: founded Docker. "No is temporary, yes is forever".
- Reposted by Solomon HykesCan containers rescue AI #MCP tools? @shykes.bsky.social of @dagger.io explains his prediction that MCP tools will rapidly become locked down by IT. Join Docker creator and Dagger CEO @shykes.bsky.social on the #GopherCon stage as he breaks down the core primitive powering AI automation — the agentic loop — and shows how to build one using just Go and a few simple tools. 🎟️ gophercon.com

- Reposted by Solomon HykesThoughts by @shykes.bsky.social on containing AI agent chaos (with Dagger as an example) by standardizing + containerizing the dev environment that agents get to do work in, while keeping the other tools around the env flexible and non-monolithic. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf9O...
- Reposted by Solomon HykesReally compelling demo by @shykes.bsky.social building a “mini Devin” coding agent in a few lines of code. Finally made the core idea behind @dagger.io click: a runtime and reusable ecosystem for your builds. Another key insight: Agents are immutable builds. 🤯 youtu.be/XWO_3My2eVU

- Reposted by Solomon Hykes@shykes.bsky.social is bringing something new to #MCPDevSummit tomorrow! Typed interfaces aren’t just a nice-to-have, they’re the key to making context orchestration reliable at scale, especially in AI and LLM systems. We look forward to seeing you there! buff.ly/NzqdbNE

- It's here! Dagger 0.18 can run AI agents - the Dagger Way. Not a monolith: composable system primitives. Cross-language & model-agnostic Not a silo: LLMs are just another node in the DAG Not a black box: deep tracing OOTB Not a blank check: you control the AI's environment
- Build AI agents into your software delivery workflows — with full control, observability, and portability. LLMs are now a core building block in Dagger. utm.guru/uijSj
- Our friends at Earthly🌎 announced the end of their original open-source project, to focus on a new product: Lunar. Their founder @vladaionescu.com, being a real mensch, wants to minimize pain to his users. So we are collaborating to offer Earthly users a soft landing to planet Dagger. 🧵
- Earthly team: you built something special, and made it this far in a tough market. I hope your new product will be a smashing success. Earthly community: I hope you'll give Dagger a chance. It's not a drop-in replacement, but I'm confident that it can be a great alternative. 🧵

- Wait 🤔 you're telling me none of you have typed composition in your MCP servers? What about *object* composition: call a function, get an object back with more functions, pass that to another function, and so on? MCP returning more MCP? You're telling me only @dagger.io has this?
- Reposted by Solomon HykesThe @dagger.io hack night is quite an awesome event, so much in the #KubeCon #CloudNativeCon vibe - people hacking things & sharing their learnings. Tech people explaining what's in their IDE/terminal, now _that_ is the kind of party I love this conference for! Gotta love Dagger Otel integration 👀
- Reposted by Solomon HykesOMG!!! you do not want to miss this one! I will be going live the Solomon Hykes (Founder of Dagger and co founder of Docker) and Dagger team with this exclusive workshop on Dagger and AI agents. This will be fun so be sure to sign up and ask questions live!
- What if the Unix shell stole the best ideas from Docker, Make and Nix? Native supports for containers and secrets; typed objects; declarative execution, sandboxed and cached by default... What if those were just standard shell features? 🤩 Well, we built it! dagger.io/blog/dagger-...

- MCP is great for extending AI apps, but less useful for extending AI code. It forces a rigid separation between "code called by llm" and "code called by code", when in practice you want to keep that boundary flexible. Right now that nuance is getting lost in the hype.

- Just like we containerized webapps, we'll have to containerize AI agents... but how? What first principles led to containers in the first place, and how do they transpose to LLMs? This was my first talk at an AI meetup, but I doubt it will be the last! youtu.be/XWO_3My2eVU?...

- Reposted by Solomon HykesOne of my major takeaways #KubeConNA '24: Dagger continues to hit it's stride. The promise was always there (how could it not with @shykes.bsky.social as CEO), but it's only 🚀. @salaboy.com and Marcos Lilljedahl did a great job showing Dagger & DAPR together in SLC www.youtube.com/watch?v=PSen...
- has anyone tried plugging a llm into an interactive terminal emulator, and watching it interact character by character, at full resolution? It would be fun to watch a model type on a terminal at superhuman speed as it explores its environment.
