I can remember thinking it was GOOD that a billionaire took over the Post because that would insulate it from economic pressures and he obviously was running it as a prestige project. So embarrassed that the class analysis was right there in front of me, too obvious, and I missed it.
It’s always been a catch-and-kill.
It wasn’t a totally pollyanish take, there was at least a theoretical chance that it would fare better than others that were stripped for parts under private-equity control.
