- Enjoy this photo from my night at the local Army base here in Halifax. I was told tonight that Canada now quietly considers itself a European country because Canada shares a direct border with Denmark in a tiny island near Greenland divided to resolve the mostly-fun Canada-Denmark Whiskey War!
- Today I was invited to sit in on a Royal Canadian Navy brief on Teams about the new River-Class Destroyer, built in cooperation with BAE Systems..... I also learned a big draw for joining the Canadian military is free education. I frequently meet NSCC students who are military veterans.......
- Finally started my workload at the Austin Film Festival. As a volunteer reader, my role is vetting screenplays submitted for their annual screenplay contest. I'm needed from January through to September. I have been doing this since 2022 and I can be upgraded to paid work next year.....

- My second blog interview with The OSINT Output! I interview Beth Martin-Board about her time co-founding a UK-based private intelligence company. I met Beth when my mentor heard I was doing blog interviews and introduced me to Beth's co-founder of Satorus Group, and he introduced me to Beth.
- My first publication with the Good Men Project! I first took an interest in the Good Men Project around 2011-2012, and was excited this year to see from their Wikipedia page that they were still a reputable organization. My next pitch to the Good Men Project will be about mental health advocacy.
- CANZUK International just agreed to an interview, but I already submitted my report. PM me if you're an editor and want a piece by me on the CANZUK policy proposal. I've been published by the Canadian Global Affairs Institute and Voice of America about CANZUK, cited on the CANZUK Wikipedia page.
- I have a new guest blog article in the works, for February: My friend Randy Loyer is a security consultant so we're doing a piece on import-export security. PM me to be interviewed. This is for the blog of Christian Orr, my mentor who is a Washington DC-based defense journalist.
- The Good Men Project say they'll publish my piece for them tomorrow! I am quite pleased that this worked out and I plan to publish with the Good Men Project regularly whenever I have an idea that isn't military or geopolitics. The piece to be published tomorrow is about anti-disinformation.

- Happy to say I have an in-person journalism interview on Feb 2...... Where I am the person being interviewed! A reporter for the Globe and Mail is going to meet me for a coffee and get some quotes. This is because he is working on a piece about the current situation for freelance journalists.....
- A piece of mine was accepted by the Good Men Project for publication. However, publishing with them requires a profile photo and email verification service called Gravatar, but Gravatar is not working on any of my web browsers or on my iPhone. Gravatar is not down on DownDetector service. PM to help

- With Edward Ma (organizer of DEFCON Halifax) at the Third Wednesday media and tech happy hour organized by Jeff MacArthur! Edward and Jeff were interviewed with TV cameras by Kings journalism students. I am a graduate of Kings journalism (a bachelors degree, before some work overseas then my MA).

- Happy to say I have a chapter commissioned for a book to be published by Cambridge, UK-based Ethics International Press, due in September 2026. After several failed attempts to publish a minor book, I will now, it seems, get a chapter in a much more mainstream academic publisher.......
- I'm happy to say I have a new report I'm writing, to be published by the Canadian Global Affairs Institute (CGAI)....... I previously published with CGAI in 2021, about CANZUK..... Now my editors at CGAI want me to check in on CANZUK five years later..... PM me to be interviewed........

- Have work again….. I’ve returned to vetting screenplays with the Austin Film Festival screenplay contest…. Finally I can do enough screenplays to upgrade to paid work….. In 2022 they discussed flying me to the festival to teach a seminar in the festival conference….
