- I will take every opportunity to post the 9-2-7-2 double play where Buck, with a broken leg, tags out Gorman Thomas for the second out. He became a better broadcaster towards the end of his career when he stopped caring about the corporate line. He and Shulman had remarkable chemistry.
- Buck Martinez has announced his retirement. What a career, what a man, what a friend. When he was traded to the #BlueJays in 1981, he thought that was the end of the road. Today, he retires as one of the most important people in this country's baseball history. To Buck 🥃

- Reposted by Troy GoodfellowThis is exactly it. We have terrible "expert" commenters on the air because they answer the phone and are always available. It's why the so-called "Canadian Taxpayers Federation" can continue their astroturf grift, or why "Democracy Watch" keeps making itself look credible (when he's really not).

- Last night I dreamed that my company opened a Toronto office by Castle Frank station, but the city moved Castle Frank station to Mimico, and everything down there was under construction. I also broke my credit card and had to walk along a railway track for 40 minutes because bus service was out.
- This is doing so much damage to my brain at this moment.
- The criminal towing industry is so big that I am not surprised that police were involved. Still, this is a huge case.

- When I lived in Maryland, we subscribed to the Washington Post and got the New York Times on Sunday, as well. That was 15 years ago, and I didn't renew the habit when I moved back to Canada because of a tight budget and internet news. But maybe it's time to subscribe again to support local papers.

- Reposted by Troy GoodfellowI'm worried that the broader public isn't really understanding the Epstein Files. The problem isn't that everyone in the files is a secret pedophile, it's that all the people are corresponding with him because they *don't care that he's a pedophile*. It's a story of elite impunity.

- Will watch later today. George Bell played left field on one of the best outfields with no Hall of Famers on it - he was a bit of a defensive liability, but Moseby's range and Barfield's arm more than made up for it. They could hit, they could run, they were fun. Bell was pretty divisive IIRC.

- Mostly enjoying Strategos, but as I make my way through the "Alexander" campaign, I am confronted with this as the Battle of Granicus. Apparently they decided that the Granicus River itself was not important.
