- Reposted by Julian ResascoHappy to share new work from the lab and a wonderful group of co-authors: We argue that conservation biology needs to move beyond the current focus on species richness metrics. While this has been argued before, we highlight the unappreciated impacts of using richness for a variety of problems:

- Species interaction networks are dynamic - shifting across space/time via species turnover & rewiring. But incomplete sampling makes it tough to understand what’s really changing. We tackled this challenge using 8 yrs of seasonal data on plant-pollinator interactions by varying sampling effort.(2/3)
- With ⬆️ sampling effort, interpretation of interaction turnover and species turnover ⬇️, and rewiring increased ⬆️. These results show that estimates of interaction turnover and its components are sensitive to sampling effort. ☝️Sampling matters when interpreting networks and their dynamics. (3/3)
