Laure-Anne Poissonnier
Insect behaviour researcher, mostly working with ants lately. Looking at learning, information use, and basically trying to understand what they understand. And a hobbit in my free time.
- Reposted by Laure-Anne Poissonnier📣 1 WEEK TO GO! 🐜 Leaf-cutting ants don’t just build nests; they build climate-controlled cities. 🎥 Watch the teaser for Prof. Flavio Roces’ talk on their environmental adaptations. 🗓️Tuesday 29 July – 14:00 GMT 📍Live on YouTube : www.youtube.com/watch?v=qORc...

- 🚨New paper🐜 For the same duration of stimulus, Lasius niger ants learn better from a positive (sugar water) than a negative (falling into water) experience. For appetitive side learning, a single trial leads to a memory of a couple of hours. #ProcB royalsocietypublishing.org/doi/10.1098/....
- Look at this 'roll into a package ball' behaviour by some Formica being carried between 2 of their nests. I love spring 😎
