- Reposted by Sophie Greenwood"While almost everything that astronomers study occurs in the vacuum of space, astronomy itself does not 'happen in a vacuum'. Interactions between scientists, as well as outreach to members of the public, improve extensively from access to good communication tools." Paper day! ⤵️
- Reposted by Sophie GreenwoodFor You has become the most liked feed: bluefacts.app/feeds/top Thanks everyone who gave it a like! Liking a feed may seem meaningless, but I think it does matter to the feed creators. It definitely has been motivating for me. Consider going over the feeds you have pinned and giving them a like!

- A thoughtful new perspective from @kennypeng.bsky.social and @rajmovva.bsky.social et al. on why (and when) we should be excited about sparse autoencoders! arxiv.org/abs/2506.23845
- Reposted by Sophie GreenwoodHow do we reconcile excitement about sparse autoencoders with negative results showing that they underperform simple baselines? Our new position paper makes a distinction: SAEs are very useful for tools for discovering *unknown* concepts, less good for acting on *known* concepts.
- Reposted by Sophie GreenwoodAfter having such a great time at #CHI2025 and #FAccT2025, I wanted to share some of my favorite recent papers here! - Reposted by Sophie GreenwoodAre LLMs correlated when they make mistakes? In our new ICML paper, we answer this question using responses of >350 LLMs. We find substantial correlation. On one dataset, LLMs agree on the wrong answer ~2x more than they would at random. 🧵(1/7) arxiv.org/abs/2506.07962
