ARC Dark Matter Centre
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Dark Matter Particle Physics brings together experts from across Australia and internationally to unlock the secrets of dark matter and foster the science and engineering leaders of the future.
- Thanks @rami.spaceaustralia.com - we appreciate the enthusiasm and knowledge you bring to your writing ... and it was fun to visit SUPL with you!
- Interested in learning about the Stawell Underground Physics Lab and the SABRE South #darkmatter experiment? @spaceaustralia.com is a great place to start. Thank you @rami.spaceaustralia.com and @astrokatie.com for your interest & engagement in the project! www.spaceaustralia.com/feature/aust... 🧪
- Thank you to everyone who joined us in our search for #darkmatter in 2025! We're looking forward to another year of exploration, outreach and discovery in 2026 🧪
- The 2025 Quantum & Dark Matter Road Trip was a highlight of the year, visiting schools and communities across the sun. We created a film to remember all of the great times and happy (and curious!) faces. 🧪 youtu.be/RbFFFmzZ63k
- The LZ collaboration has released results that extend the experiment's search for low-mass #darkmatter and set world-leading limits on WIMPs. It was the first time it has detected signals from the sun's neutrinos. Congratulations to our researchers Robert James and Theresa Fruth and all involved! 🧪
- We might be unlocking one of the universe's great mysteries, but that doesn't mean we don't have to do the chores! As equipment arrives in the lab, it must be cleaned before it is installed and tested. All of this is in preparation for the arrival of the SABRE South #darkmatter experiment! 🧪
- It's a wrap on another collaborative, engaging and inspiring Annual Workshop of #DarkMatter scientists from across Australia! As we near the end of the year, we are energised by what we have learnt and what 2026 holds. 🧪
- It's not very often you hear a member of the audience blowing raspberries during a presentation, but we're happy to hear gorgeous baby noises at our Annual Workshop! It has been fantastic to see the light relief our CI's little one has brought to our deep dives into #darkmatter research. 🧪
- We've arrived in Canberra for the 2025 Annual Meeting of the Dark Matter Centre! Our members have travelled from Melbourne, Adelaide, Western Australia, and Sydney to attend this event. We are looking forward to sharing knowledge and ideas throughout the week. #DarkMatter #Physics #Science 🧪
- 📡We are receiving transmissions from deep underground! This dashboard displays the performance of the equipment in our underground lab in Stawell. The same software reports temperature, humidity and dust levels. This ensures conditions are optimal for the arrival of our #darkmatter experiment. 🧪

- "We have several big mysteries in physics and each time we solve one of them, it will revolutionise our technology and our culture." Karl Kruszelnicki Happy Dark Matter Day! What better way to celebrate than discussing the value of science? Listen from 47 mins. www.abc.net.au/listen/progr... 🧪
- Science-lovers, are you looking for an inspiring way to celebrate Halloween (and Dark Matter Day)? Join us for a livestreamed tour of the Stawell Underground Physics Lab in Australia and Boulby Underground Lab in the UK on Friday. Register for free at: dmd-stawell-boulby.eventbrite.co.uk 🧪
- Are you interested in seeing (typo fixed!) the UK and Australian labs where scientists are searching for #darkmatter? Register for Dark Matter Day tour and talks, streamed from Boulby Underground Lab and Stawell Underground Physics Lab on Oct 31. dmd-stawell-boulby.eventbrite.co.uk 🧪
- "We're looking at huge questions of nature and we are pursuing answers that have a deep connection to how the universe works in general." www.abc.net.au/news/2025-10... 🧪
- Come and see the new equipment that has arrived in the Stawell Underground Physics Laboratory in preparation for the SABRE South dark matter experiment! youtube.com/shorts/wHXrg... 🧪
- Congratulations Elisabetta Barberio on being awarded the Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. It recognises a commitment to international collaboration, and the knowledge that in science, we are more together. 🧪
- The SABRE South #darkmatter experiment has reached an exciting milestone with the arrival of a glovebox in the Stawell Underground Physics Lab. Scientists will use the glovebox to protect the experiment's ultra-pure crystals from exposure to air, which would cause them to degrade. 💎🧪
- Imagine being able to 'see' through solid rock. Federico Scutti is developing a technology that uses particles from space, or muons, to do exactly that. New funding from Australia's Economic Accelerator aims to help turn this fundamental science into a tangible product for the mining industry. 🧪

- Considered the 'sun's messengers' neutrinos are ghostly particles that rarely interact with normal matter. In Pursuit, physicists explain how the study of neutrinos through the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment is uncovering the sun's inner workings. pursuit.unimelb.edu.au/articles/neu... 🧪
- Science hit the prime time this morning with the National #Quantum & #DarkMatter Road Trip appearing on the Today Show. 🧪 By spreading the word about the excitement of science, we hope to inspire a future generation of scientists from regional and remote Australia! youtu.be/mgsgokenNDk

- Tune in to ABC Melbourne at 10am tomorrow to hear Ben McAllister talk to Raf about all things #science! 🧪
- If you missed hearing from Ben McAllister on ABC Melbourne, you can listen here. Ben, a researcher at Swinburne University of Technology, talks about the search for #darkmatter and some exciting events coming to Melbourne as part of the QDM Road Trip. www.qdmroadtrip.org/news/ben-mca... 🧪
- Tune in to ABC Melbourne at 10.40am today to hear @benmcallister.bsky.social talk about the National Quantum & Dark Matter Road Trip and how it's bringing fundamental science to students across Australia. 🧪
- Maxim Goryachev has received ARC Future Fellowship funding for his work towards building a solid-state nuclear isomer transition clock. "I’m excited to continue advancing metrological systems for their technological potential, and their insights into the fundamental workings of the universe." 🧪
