Bennie Thompson
Congressman #MS02 | Avid Hunter l Kappa Alpha Psi 1967 👌🏽♦️
- The chaos coming out of this administration and Congressional Republicans continues to hurt working families and create uncertainty in our communities. I will continue to speak up and fight back when policies threaten Mississippi families.
- I want to thank all the officials, community leaders, and community members who came out to my campaign office open house last Friday. I truly enjoy these moments of fellowship with all of you!
- I’ve been blessed to see another birthday, and I’m grateful for the many years of life and the memories along the way. I woke up this morning to so many birthday messages, and I truly thank you all for thinking of me. I am forever grateful.
- I was proud to secure $1,000,000 in federal funding for 10 sheriff’s offices across Mississippi’s Second District to strengthen community safety and support local law enforcement. Ensuring our communities have the The resources they need matter. Photo: Joshua Martin

- Many communities throughout Mississippi have been facing snow and ice since the weekend, which is a rare occurrence for our state. If you experience any damage, please report it to your County Emergency Management Administrator (EMA). Locate them here: www.msema.org/get-assistan...
- Another U.S. citizen killed in cold blood by ICE/CBP in Minneapolis for exercising First Amendment rights. Sick and un-American. Trump and Kristi Noem have blood on their hands. Release the body-cam footage now and get ICE and CBP out of Minneapolis.

- This weekend was absolutely splendid. I enjoyed traveling through the district, participating in some of the MLK parades, and fellowshiping with the good folks of the district.
- As a Member of Congress, I swore an oath to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic. I will continue to honor that oath, because as far as I am concerned, the danger remains clear and present, and it happens to be sitting in the Oval Office.
- @jasmineforus.bsky.social has been a bold, unwavering leader since day one in Congress. When they tried to silence her, she rose higher. Now she’s bringing that same fire to the U.S. Senate race in Texas, and Texas will be better represented because of it.
- Tune in tonight at 11:30 PM/10:30 PM CT to watch Congressman Troy A. Carter and me discuss the impact the government shutdown will have on the nation. Click here to view: www.youtube.com/live/2dm-OKj...

- “Border Czar” Tom Homan is being accused of accepting $50,000 from undercover agents pretending to be business people. Stay tuned!
- It's that time of year again: tailgate season! I enjoy when we come together as a community to support our teams as they represent us at home and abroad. Look out for me at the tailgate!
- We’re winning in courts, marching in the streets, and standing united for our people. As VP Harris said, “Sometimes the fight takes a while; that doesn’t mean we won’t win.” Keep the faith, protect our communities, and stay watchful for truth over misinformation and any attempt to divide us.
- Thank you, Tyson, for helping us better serve our communities! We have had a great time at the Mississippi Policy Conference in Tunica, MS so far.
- Mississippi has lost over $15 billion since the Affordable Care Act (ObamaCare) was passed. Mississippi refused to take the money, and as a result, people are dying, and hospitals are about to close.
- Today, the President plans to sign this devastating bill into law. The full impact may not be felt immediately, but America will feel its weight in time. Despite our amendments, calls, & protests, they passed it. When 2026 comes and it’s time to choose new leaders, let us not forget who put us here.
- Praying in the House, while preparing to vote away benefits for seniors, children, and the sick. Hypocrisy at its finest.
- Our democracy suffers when lies are louder than laws!
- Now that this ugly bill has passed the Senate, it returns to the House—and let me be clear: I will be voting NO again. I refuse to sell out the very people who sent me to Congress. My constituents come first—always. I will never sell them out, not now, not ever.
- 153,910 people will lose care in Mississippi under this terrible bill, and they have the audacity to call it "Beautiful."
- The hypocrisy is astonishing.
- It was a pleasure to have @whipkclark.bsky.social in my district as we toured hospitals and listened to the community. Thank you, Whip Clark, for your visit!

- Be aware of your rights, everyone! Let’s keep getting involved in meaningful activism!
- I'm happy to have @whipkclark.bsky.social joining me in my district.
- I have a special guest joining me for my next Town Hall. Be on the lookout!

- Trump refused to call in the National Guard when the Capitol was under siege on January 6. But now, he’s deploying troops to L.A. to crack down on protests against immigration raids. No National Guard for the attack on democracy yet a full show of force against people demanding justice. Hypocrisy
- This administration is a prime example of the three C's: Chaos, Corruption, and Confusion!
- Trump’s birthday parade is a $62M joke, $46M for the show, $16M in street damage. Meanwhile, he’s profiting off Bitcoin, sneakers, MAGA merch, and even asking Qatar for a $400M jet. This isn’t patriotism, it’s profiteering.
- I had a great weekend with my community, spreading the word, showing up, and pushing for change. I went to the State of the People Power Tour at Tougaloo and rolled down to Gulfport with Stacey Abrams to support Sonya Williams Barnes for Mayor. Let’s keep the momentum going!
- Traveled to MS’s 4th District to speak the truth & stand with those struggling. Some may not like me stepping outside my district, but when leaders stay silent, someone has to step up. We’ll get through this together.
- Still, there is no real evidence behind their fraud and abuse claims, just noise. No proof means it’s either a lie or hearsay. All I see is Trump-pleasing while Americans get left behind. Folks need to wake up and see who’s serving them and making money for his family.
- You can’t shovel shit and call it sugar. The Big Ugly Bill is an absolute disgrace, no matter how they try to dress it up.
- They passed the Tax Scam!
- Joe, my brother and my friend You’ve led with strength and heart through every storm. Now we stand with you. Praying for healing, peace, and continued courage. You are not alone. With love and respect, – Bennie
- Lies. Lies. And more lies. I pressed Secretary Noem for written proof and she had nothing. Just like the rest of this administration: loud on claims and silent on facts. youtu.be/OFBw-EzCWss
- The GOP is out here trying to rename the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America because clearly that’s the emergency, while Americans are out here losing healthcare, housing, and food benefits. We see exactly where GOP priorities lie.
- I'm just going to leave this here.
- We thank Jasmine for being a bold and brilliant light on Graduation Day. Though Tougaloo has since received troubling threats, we stand firm. The College has taken swift action to ensure campus safety, and we remain unshaken. Tougaloo has endured for generations, and we will continue to stand.
- This weekend, I welcomed Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett to Mississippi. She is a true force in Congress. Her boldness, brilliance, and deep love for justice inspire us all. She’s more than a colleague; she’s like family. The future belongs to leaders like her.
