This week is the first week of the German winter semester. I'll be coordinating, lecturing and covering exercises for three different courses on biodiversity and bird and mammal ecology. Lecturing in English and German for five hours this week has already ruined my voice. And I'm tired!
But for me, the first week is always the hardest. I'm always most worried about that first encounter with students. How will they be this year? What's the mood in the audience? Will they (as always) be smarter than me? Excellent vibes in all three courses though. Great engagement from day one!
Some years, definitely just after the lockdown years, no one interacted, it was difficult to stimulate. But this year students want to chat and share. That's great. And record numbers for the biodiversity course (beating the old record by 7 students). Promising for the future 🙂🙂!
