- Having only read 2 or 3 fiction books last year, I’ve set myself a challenge:
- Delighted to get my hands on Volume 1 of London Pride! I am excited to delve into the chapters and learn more about the London Territorials. Of course I am also excited for Volume 2 later this year to see my own contribution in print! #fwwhist

- Me to the kids in any shop in December: ‘We are not buying anything, it is too close to Xmas’ Me allowed to go into a bookshop alone:
- Pleased to see my WFA webinar is now on YouTube! The 1/25th London Cyclists are a fascinating, if little known battalion who present a really interesting study in the wartime transformation of territorials. #FWWHist
- Well I never, a 500 page book on the Indian Army features 0 entries in the bibliography for Kaushik Roy. I wasn't sure that was possible!
- Right, Normandy in May with the fam. Aiming to spend at least 1 full day history dadding, maybe the whole family, maybe just me and 6yo history fan, Teddy. If one was to look to do and see as much 1944 as possible, where should one be going? (Teddy likes planes and tanks).

- Reposted by Dr Adam PrimeLatest update from @britishlibrary.bsky.social says they are launching a new version of their main catalogue on Monday 8 December and around that time also launch an interim version of their Archives and Manuscripts Catalogue. Hooray! www.bl.uk/stories/news...
- I feel like bookshops are missing a trick. Why are they not selling Jeremy Black Friday bundles…
- 5 years after I stopped lecturing I still read books/articles or attend talks and think to myself ‘that would be really useful to include on X module’. Then I remind myself I am a civil servant and work in youth custody.
- ⚠️ Time is running out! ⚠️ 🗓️ The deadline for applications for The WFA PhD Grant Scheme is 1 December. 📣 No topics are off limits, ANY First World War research considered! #FWWHist #PhDchat

- Reposted by Dr Adam PrimeI’ve written a piece on the curious lack of media and political interest in the issues faced by our national @britishlibrary.bsky.social. This is strange given we live in a world where ideas, knowledge and research are a long-term source of innovation and insight www.cityam.com/the-british-...

- Well worth a look 👀

- Olusoga has been terrible all game, awful advert for historians. But he has been a lovely human all the way through, a great advert for historians. #CelebrityTraitors
- Reposted by Dr Adam PrimeVolume 1 of London Pride is on its way! It examines London’s Territorial Force (TF) from 1908-21, exploring its unique structure, socio-economic composition, military operations during the GW. Ideal for office & home use & Xmas presents. - It was a pleasure to speak yesterday at the joint Western Front Association - Gallipoli Association conference. It was a great conference which considered the grand strategic right down to individual nurses. Sharing the bill with Sir Hew Strachan was a personal highlight (and made me nervous)
- You can now register for my upcoming WFA webinar Allenby’s Sepoys: The Indian Army and the EEF in 1918 #fwwhist #ww1 #greatwar
- As I put the finishing touches to my paper for Saturday I am beginning to get imposter syndrome, in part because I am not a Gallipoli historian, though I have enjoyed researching it for this. And also because of the strength of the other speakers. Looking forward to it regardless!
- This AI stuff will never catch on, look at the state of this PowerPoint it came up with for me!
- 80 years of JCB. A bit of British and local (to me) history. Plus this display is cool!
- Reposted by Dr Adam PrimeMilitarizing Marriage is now OpenAccess! Thanks to Ohio University Press (with the generous support of a Mini-Grant from RSP at WWU) for facilitating the process. Now you can access tirailleurs sénégalais' conjugal relationships across French Empire at the speed of a download.
- Probably won’t have chance now until early in the new year but I really need to get myself to the British Library, it has been far too long!

- Constantly telling myself ‘I’ll get the laptop out tomorrow night after work’ means I’ve got lots of ideas, I’ve done a lot of reading and researching, but I’ve got just over a week to write my conference paper!

- Long time followers will know I’ve been working on the 1/25th County of London Cyclists & their time in India - mainly for a book chapter. The edited tome it is to appear in is so large, it is now across 2 volumes. Volume 1 (which does not include my chapter) is available to preorder. Check it out:
- Nice couple of charity shop pick ups this morning.
- I’ve always wanted an action shot of me talking for a profile pic but it never seems to work out 🤣 always mid-sentence with a stupid look on my face 🙈
- I’ve been reading the dramatically entitled Hired to Kill Some Chapters of an Autobiography by John Morris. I was struck by this description of waiting to head to the Western Front as a private before subsequent commission and transfer to the Indian Army:
- Being a historian without an office means every so often I have to pull the banana boxes out of the cupboard, find the books I need & put away those I’ve done with. It’s quite laborious! But often results in me rediscovering a lot of titles I forgot I owned!
- Enjoyed my day back at my old stomping ground @salforduni.bsky.social

- I am really pleased to have been asked back to my old stomping ground to give a paper next week. 3 years at Salford as an undergraduate and 4 as a lecturer, it is the place where I grew as a person and historian.
