I like complicated conversations about rewilding, housing, localism and sustainable transport. Fuelled by rage about the nature crisis. Sustained by all the people doing something about it.
- Huge news for Scotland’s nature! 🏴 🌳🦅🪱 🍄 The Natural Environment Bill has officially been voted into law, marking a landmark victory for people and nature. 🧵 (1/4)
- From statutory nature targets to long-awaited deer management reform, Scotland’s legal framework will now better support nature recovery. This is a moment to celebrate. 🥳 But the real work happens on the ground. (2/4)
- In 100 days, Scotland goes to the polls. 🗳️ I worry that this election will barely feature nature, with so much else - rightly - on people's minds. It's easy to feel overwhelmed by the state of humanity, not to mention our declining natural world. 🧵

- Really hope this question comes up at a #LynxToScotland event. 🐈
- Join us on #WorldRewildingDay 20 March 2026 in Pitlochry for Scotland’s first ever rewilding hustings - where you ask the questions, and politicians answer. #HopeForNature #RewildingNation 👉 Book here: eventbrite.pulse.ly/ihogwxtp0m #RewildingNation 📷 Colin Hattersley
- The biggest impact on my life from cycling isn’t health, fitness or saving the planet. It’s the ability to time travel. ⏲️ 🪄 🚲 ⚡ 🌀 Go here to donate to @thebikestation.bsky.social's #EverydayHeroes campaign: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/everyday-h... Or read on to find out more... 🧵
- With 300+ amendments to the Natural Environment Bill lodged by MSPs, it’s clear politicians want to make their mark on Scotland’s nature laws. But will this bill put us on track to meet our international obligations to protect 30% of Scotland for nature and restore 30% of degraded ecosystems? 🌱🤔🧵
- 🧵 How long does it take to move a beaver 100 miles? Hours, by van, from one river catchment to another. Days or weeks, if you're making the beaver walk. (Don't try that.) In reality? 3 years. 🦫😱
- Yesterday the Scottish Parliament voted for a new law requiring owners of large landholdings to publish plans to increase biodiversity - rather than maintain the status quo in a nature-depleted nation. 🥳 The Land Reform Bill may be weak, but it's a joy to see this one provision made stronger.
- There’s no clearer way to show the people in power how important rewilding is than turning up on the doorstep of Holyrood with a hundred campaigners... and making some noise. 📣 Tomorrow, let’s call on Scotland's politicians to #StopStallingStartRewilding! 🌱🐾🌊🪸 Sign up: bit.pulse.ly/vgngy4fyli

- By scrapping plans for a Galloway National Park, the Scottish Government has again proved it can't successfully plot a path to a wilder Scotland. We need leadership – not another retreat from meaningful action. Read the Scottish Rewilding Alliance statement here: rewild.scot/scrapping-pl...

- Reposted by Charlotte MaddixPeople of colour and Indigenous peoples across the world are facing the worst effects of a climate and nature emergency which they didn’t cause 🌍 Yet their struggles have been repeatedly ignored by people in positions of power, often with deliberate intent.

- I love cycling at night (such quiet streets!) but the concentration of absolute roasters racing along narrow streets is definitely higher than in the daytime. 🏎🏁🤨
- It's World Gaelic Week - so I'm resharing the rewilding video that brought me the most joy from last year: here's the amazing Hector reading extracts from the #RewildingNation Charter in Gaelic. 🌟💚🌟💚🌟💚🌟💚 Tha ath-fhiadhachadh a’ toirt dòchas dhuinn uile.

- Glad to see the Natural Environment Bill is here. Without the detail (to follow in subsequent legislation) it's too soon to say if it'll lead to the recovery of Scotland's land and seas. We need clear, ambitious and updatable targets for Scotland's ecosystems. ➡️ www.rewild.scot/clear-ambiti...
- How popular and how well-proven does rewilding need to be before Scotland's government embraces it? We're told it's a flat 'no' to lynx reintroduction - but a poll released today shows that 61% of people in Scotland want a well-managed, legal reintroduction of lynx. So what's the bar? 🤷♀️
