- now, i ain't no soil scientist, but i know that there's a bit of difference between the measured air temperature in a shady box a metre or so off the ground, and the surface and root-level soil temperature, so i do wonder how food crops feel about extended periods of 40 - 50 degC. lovin' it, yeah?

I'll need you all to be there, and bring your neighbour, your parents' neighbour, the nice person at the fish & chip shop that adds extra vinegar, your Aunty - all your aunties - and anyone else you can think of. A not-full venue echoes, and we can't have that

- Reposted by Darkly, Glass Darkly ('26)After the Columbian exchange, all food everywhere became Native American fusion food. So quickly, so thoroughly, that it is hard to even imagine their cuisines before tomatoes and chili peppers and potatoes. But the recipes, the beloved dishes passed down across generations? Brutally erased.
- Reposted by Darkly, Glass Darkly ('26)oh btw if you need the CIA World Factbook because they took it down with no warning because we can't have nice things, here's where you can get the PDF for the 2024-2025 edition: annas-archive.li/md5/92d7b783...

- Reposted by Darkly, Glass Darkly ('26)And now think about how, in 20 years or 50 years, there will be a similar gaping void in culture where people used genAI instead of making and sharing their own. What once took an unimaginable horror to do will now take 3 billionaire pedophiles in a trench coat passing the same cash back and forth
