- Two Border Patrol agents have been identified in the Alex Pretti shooting. Both are from South Texas. At least one of them from the Rio Grande Valley. The most heavily surveilled and militarized section of the Texas-Mexico border for years.
- This is a section of border where the State of Texas authorized state police to shoot from helicopters at vehicles, and they killed two people. The shooter, also from the RGV, got a promotion. This region is steeped in militarization and impunity. That's where agents like these get their training.
