- My 1st radio contact with Antarctica, ~17000km from Montreal: Igor Taranenko (RI1ANE) kindly responded to my tiny mobile vertical antenna radiating 25W of HF RF from a mobile mag mount on my condo's deck railing. He is at Progress Base, a Russian research station. The ionosphere is amazing.
