- I swear to God Europe has the worst power plugs on the planet. Just absolute garbage. They either fall out of their sockets if you look at them wrong, or won't come out without a forklift. Just absolute clown show shit.
- I hesitate to jump into this, but I think this is a useful illustration of the distinction between activists and academics. Is this historically accurate? Is this helpful right this minute to the people putting their bodies on the line on the streets of Minneapolis? Two very different Qs.
- I very much disagree with @whstancil.bsky.social on this - how are you going to oppose ICE and the Trump administration if you don't understand that this *is* indeed who you are as a nation and that what we're seeing today is the culmination of a long history of American violence? 1/
- Re-upping: if you want to learn microscopy and image analysis - REALLY learn them, in an intense and hands on way - this is a really great place to do it. Applications close Jan 30 meetings.cshl.edu/courses.aspx...
- Reposted by Damian Dalle NogareI came to Minneapolis to report on what's going on, and one of the main questions I showed up with is "just what is the scale of the resistance?" After all, we're all used to the news calling Portland a "war zone" or whatever when it's just some protests in one part of town.
- Europe needs to realize that the only thing trump understands is strength. Cower before him and he'll ask for more and more. Smack him in the face and he'll run away like the scared little bitch he is.
- Tonight was the Falò San Nicolò, where the first of two factions in Pontremoli compete to see who can build the biggest fire 🔥
- Dmitry hits the nail on the head here. We have to pretend that the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet are serious people because a collection of the other dumbest motherfuckers on the planet decided to give them the keys to the car.
- Halfway through heated rivalry and I'm 10X more invested in Hunter/Kip than I am in Rozanov/Hollander 😂

- Reposted by Damian Dalle NogareI don’t think we should have ceded control quite so quickly and without so much as a fight.
- Reposted by Damian Dalle NogareI am looking for two postdocs to join our lab - One (bio)image analyst - One cell biologist interested to work on lymphatics! The positions will open soon, be in touch!
- Want to up your microscopy and image analysis game? Applications open now for QI 2026! Join us in cold spring harbor for two weeks of intensive training in all things microscopy.
- I will never forgive anyone who voted to give this piece of shit the power he has now. Never.

- Reposted by Damian Dalle NogareThis is basically the view of the world that Plato sets out to refute in the Republic. One of the core questions asked therein is: why do powerful people think the mere fact of them exercising dominion makes it good for them to do so? Sure, you *can* get away with stuff if you're powerful - so what?
- Wake up babe new deranged import just dropped
- A good start, but Europe needs to be very clear-eyed about where the world is right now, and where it could be headed.
- It's honestly a bit surprising how much more complex image analysis gets once you're in the regime of images too big to fit in memory. All of the solutions you do (use zarr! Split the image!) come with a whole host of issues that you've never had to think about until you run into them.
- Reposted by Damian Dalle NogareI'm super excited to announce that I will join the Human Technopole @humantechnopole.bsky.social in Milan in April 2026 as a Research Group Leader.

- Holy shit it's an old white guy WHAT ARE THE ODDS?
- Hell yeah, cima di rapa season is back on.
- First cocktails of 2026, a negroni for @angelahvitved.bsky.social and a last word for me. Good riddance 2025, here's to a better 2026!
- My most trivial hill I will die on is that well cooked, well salted fries are nature's perfect food and anything - *anything* - that you put on them will necessarily degrade the experience.
