- The immigration crackdown is central to Trump's strategy to undermine democracy. What it can do that purging opponents or controlling the power of the purse cannot is enable military deployment on US soil & rally militia to enact their agenda unchecked. w/ @abbeyst.bsky.social for #USAPP

Sworn declarations filed last night confirm the Trump admin sent INNOCENT people to rot in prison El Salvador, including a professional soccer player jailed and tortured by the Maduro regime, who entered this country LEGALLY to seek asylum, and who has NO CRIMINAL RECORD in either country.

- Reposted by Stephanie Schwartzbsky.app/profile/reil... this is bonkers and deeply disturbing. Private security, DOJ, DOGE, and the DC police together worked to take control over a private building the government *does not own* and dismiss the staff *whom the president does not employ,* removing them, it seems, with armed force

- Really enjoyed listening to @ufahamuafrica.bsky.social. I learned so much from Nisrin El Amin on Sudan. And thanks so much for discussing our piece on Tanzania in @foreignpolicy.com as well. We're hoping that some of the grave human rights violations from prior repatriation efforts won't be repeated
- I know there's a lot going on in the world right now, but one thing @cboeyink and I hope doesn't go unnoticed is Tanzania's attempts to force Burundian refugees to return. When it happened before it was horrific. We hope it doesn't come to that again foreignpolicy.com/2023/11/15/t...
