- Reposted by Katie WilsonThrowback to the time that The Urbanist sent Katie Wilson to cover the grand opening of a Belltown highrise, which featured the hoisting of a $1.6 million supercar to the building's roof. But how people cover child care costs is a scandal, am I right? www.theurbanist.org/2024/05/19/h...
- RIP to Lenny Wilkens, one of the greatest players and coaches (and player-coaches) in Supersonics history. His contributions to this city, including the 1979 championship, were enormous. He will be missed.
- Most important, contra Westneat and Horsey, who seem to think this race is about grievance and anger: it’s really about hope. Hundreds of volunteers are out knocking on doors every week because they share our positive vision for Seattle's future. #ThisIsYOURCity
- I guess we’re at the point in the campaign where pundits and consultants make excuses as to why their candidate is losing. 🧵 Westneat points to Trump and his fawning billionaires:
- Horsey, meantime, blames the imprudent youth:
- There’s no doubt that Trump’s election and an out-of-touch Democratic party establishment are factors in this race, and also that young voters aren’t enchanted by Harrell. But far and away the issues with the most “heat” in this campaign are affordability, homelessness, and public safety.
-
View full threadSay it with me: affordability, homelessness, public safety. Apparently it’s just really hard for my opponent and his backers to accept that voters have noticed and are responding to his failures on these quality-of-life issues. /
- Reposted by Katie WilsonMayoral candidate @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social made a second appearance on @lobbingscorchers.com and talked about the World Cup and her vision for Seattle (For the record: Mayor Harrell has declined an invite). www.sounderatheart.com/2025/10/lobb...
- Thanks to @kuow.org for issuing this correction.
- I just got around to actually reading this @kuow.org piece on me, and there’s ANOTHER major inaccuracy, beyond the "parents pay my bills" bit. 🧵
- Taking a page out of @zohrankmamdani.bsky.social’s book: If you think the problem is that my parents are helping with my childcare expenses during this campaign, vote for Harrell. If you know the problem is that childcare is wildly unaffordable in Seattle, vote for me.
- I just got around to actually reading this @kuow.org piece on me, and there’s ANOTHER major inaccuracy, beyond the "parents pay my bills" bit. 🧵
- It claims that TRU’s 2023 and 2024 tax filings are “at odds” with my personal financial statement from the city because they show that “Wilson hasn’t drawn any money from the organization in the last two years.” This is simply FALSE.
- In fact, on the 990EZ form TRU filled out in those two years (linked to from the article), you only have to list employees who “received more than $100,000 of compensation from the organization.” My salary was under that amount, as was the salary of TRU’s other employee at that time.
-
View full threadThis is really disappointing reporting from @kuow.org. They could have followed up after the interview to ask me to actually review the 990 forms (which I didn't have in front of me during the interview!) and explain what they saw as a discrepancy. Instead they just ran the story. /
- Shooting our next campaign video!
- Reposted by Katie WilsonIt's not just Mamdani. Michelle Wu, Katie Wilson--the Dems may soon have a remarkable cast of young, gifted mayors www.newyorker.com/news/the-led...
- What changed is pretty simple! (1) The Lake City Fred Meyer closure threatens to create a food & pharmacy desert in a neighborhood that clearly has the customer base to support a grocery store. The surrounding community is angry about it and looking for solutions.
- (2) WA’s largest private-sector union, representing grocery workers, tells me they’re interested in partnering to create a public-option grocery store. With their industry experience and relationships, that becomes WAY more feasible.
- All the cautions in my earlier statement still apply. As mayor, I’ll be excited to move forward with this if we've developed a solid plan with strong community buy-in, one that solves a real problem & is a wise use of resources relative to other things we could be doing. That’s just good governance.
- I had a great time talking with @deanbaker13.bsky.social on his Mostly Economics podcast about how local governments can support independent journalism and strengthen our democracy. Check it out! cepr.net/mostly-econo...

- Waiting for the L8 at 5th and Denny… Can’t wait to break out the red paint!
- Reposted by Katie WilsonMayor Harrell rejected my “insinuation” on Thursday that suing over 7-month-old executive orders four days before a primary might be political. Today:

- Reposted by Katie WilsonYou never know who you're going to run into in downtown Seattle...or whose video interview you're going to accidentally walk through. Congrats on getting the @theurbanist.org endorsement, @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social!
- Reposted by Katie WilsonThis is a bold step by the city workers, who stand to lose a lot by angering the famously grudge-holding Mayor. It is sign of the spreading realization that Bruce is vulnerable and a sign of their courage that they are willing to take this risk. Let's stand with the people who make Seattle work!

- Reconsidering this, as the most recent filing shows Harrell’s campaign itself spent $35k on polling — presumably telling them to paint me as an angry, divisive, cop-hating socialist. I hope he feels that was money well spent!
- I’m going back to an earlier theory that the $14k for oppo research paid someone to read all the columns I’ve ever written, an idea I quite like.
- Reposted by Katie WilsonIs this even an endorsement?
- With ballots about to drop and just three weeks before Primary Election Day, it's clear the incumbent and his big-money backers are terrified of our campaign. I’m bracing for the attacks to begin. 🧵
- Here are four of eight messages tested against me:

- It finally came and we had a blast racing the L8. With so many fellow transit riders!
- Great letter from dozens of WA elected officials, including four Seattle city councilmembers, committing to action after the passage of Trump's bill. Where is Mayor Bruce Harrell's signature?
- Full letter and signatories here:
- On July 4th, Mayor Harrell gave the welcoming speech at a celebration for over 500 new Americans at Seattle Center, saying that in contrast to Trump, “we choose a different path… rooted in… inclusion and a clear pathway to citizenship.” Unfortunately, his actions haven’t lived up to these values. 🧵
- In 2022, asylum seekers from Angola, Democratic Republic of Congo, and Venezuela arrived in Seattle hoping to find a helping hand. The Harrell administration had no coordinated response. Instead, SPD started picking up asylum families and dropping them off at a small church in Tukwila.
- The Riverton Park United Methodist Church quickly became overwhelmed, as over 400 asylum seekers slept in cold tents surrounding their church over the winter: families with small children, toddlers, at least a dozen pregnant women, and people with chronic medical conditions.

View full threadInstead, Harrell’s administration has consistently shifted responsibility. Now, as he fights for re-election, he’s suddenly the champion of immigrants and refugees. But the real test is not what you say when you give a speech. It’s what you do when you’re called upon to act. /
