- You might think your job has your back, but when push comes to shove, workers often learn that HR's first priority is to protect the company--even when that comes at their expense. In our new paper at ASAP, @mwkraus.bsky.social and I explore how these experiences shape workers' union attitudes.
- "The mission of HR is to help you thrive at work." This sounds good, but what happens when your organization shifts its priorities away from yours? New work by @megan-elaine-burns.bsky.social suggests that unions become more appealing! spssi.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/... 🔓
- We find that when workers' goals are pitted against those of management, learning about labor union grievance procedures leads workers to express more pro-union sentiment. Check out the paper here! spssi.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10....

- I've been in the trenches of my comprehensive exams so I'm late to the party, but I'm so proud of this paper! It was cathartic to reflect on field and the purpose of our work within it. Thank you @mwkraus.bsky.social for the opportunity to contribute!

- What's good for an organization often comes at the expense of its workers. In this pre-print, we find that exposure to workplace conflicts & information about union grievance procedures reduces perceived alignment between workers and management and increases union attitudes. Check it out below!

The piece was riddled with historical errors and left one searching for fact, so I broke my public writing hiatus to respond. I hope you’ll read and share the piece. stanforddaily.com/2025/04/22/w...

- I'd long suspected that many elite universities were merely corporations masquerading as educational centers, but I never thought we'd see the mask come off quite like this. Spineless, soulless, weak behavior from one of the most powerful universities in the world.

- Structural barriers to unionization are manifold, but what about psychological barriers? Orgs foster identification & commitment among workers, which inhibit interest in unionizing. Exposure to org conflicts & union info reduces workers' perceived alignment with orgs & improves pro-union attitudes.
