- How as a desperate ND parent do I cope? In the past 18 days I've had 9 hours alone. Total. Kids sick, Spouse sick, weekend, spouse still sick the next week. Last Fri I had 5 hours alone TO WORK. Weekend. Mon: kid 2 sick. Tues: kid 2 AND spouse sick. Weds: 4hrs alone TO WORK. Today: kid 1 is sick.
- I haven't had time to recharge since my first kid was born- I MEAN, since November 17, but seriously, I'm chewing on the walls at this point. The last reserves of my Gracious Parent/Partner/Employee self are so far away even the Hubble couldn't find them. I NEED TO BE ALONE AND I CAN'T

- Myth busted: German does not have a word for everything! They use the same word for by & until, and Decke means both ceiling & blanket. And plenty of others. I'm not saying English is perfect! Like, German has two versions of the word "already," depending if it's surprising or not. Just sayin tho

- Votes! The first vote goes directly to a candidate for the district, and the second goes to an entire party. Some parties don't have a candidate for every district. Or you might not want a particular candidate - those are some reasons people might give each vote to a different party.

- We made it skiing, a day late! Both kids looooove it. I went up the lift a few times, too, and was surprised to find everything was still in my muscle memory! What fun!

- A friend told me about the concept of "yule boasting" which is when you get drunk at solstice and proclaim all the wildly improbable things you're gonna do in the next year. What are yours? Here's mine: I'm gonna make book translations so good that the entire world will abandon machine translation.
