Senator John Fredrickson
Husband. Father. Mental Health Professional. Educator. State Senator representing District 20 in the Nebraska Legislature.
- In the #NEleg we talk about stopping the affordability brain drain - so why was the first bill passed one that cuts wages for young Nebraskans? LB258 says young workers are worth less and voters’ voices don’t matter. Costs are rising. We must listen and ensure wages keep up.
- Omaha! 2026 is an election year, and it's never too early to ensure you are registered to vote. Check your registration status and more here: www.votedouglascounty-ne.gov
- As #NEleg debates policy impacting students with disabilities, rhetoric matters. The Governor’s use of outdated, derogatory language reflects the same disregard behind cuts to A&D waivers and autism services. Nebraska can do better. Words matter. Policy matters. People matter.
- Last session, I passed a bill creating ‘Home of Arbor Day’ license plates - proceeds go directly to tree planting and conservation efforts here in Nebraska 🌲 Visit dmv.nebraska.gov/dvr/arbor-day-plates for details ➞
- Today, I officially filed to seek another term representing District 20 in the Nebraska Legislature. I’m proud of the progress we’ve made together and energized by the work that still lies ahead. I would be honored to continue earning your trust and serving you in Lincoln. 🗳️🙌
- Morning at the Capitol, afternoon at your doors. I’ll never stop being grateful for the opportunity to represent District 20 in the Legislature.
- Happy Friday! This week I introduced my first two bills of the 2026 session: ✅ Appropriate funding back to Federally Qualified Community Health Centers ✅ Place limits on copays to lessen out-of-pocket costs for Medicaid patients More to come next week!
- Merry Christmas and happy holidays! 🎄I hope your day is filled with joy and surrounded with loved loves laughter. #MerryChristmas
- Christmas in Nebraska never gets old 🎄
- Grateful for the honor of being named one of CSG’s 20 Under 40 - and even more grateful for the work, the people, and the purpose behind it. This recognition reflects what’s been built so far, but it’s also a reminder that there’s much more ahead. Onward into the new year and beyond💥
- Nebraskans want leaders who solve problems. I work across the aisle every day, because that’s how we deliever real results - and that’s exactly what I’ll keep doing.
- Democracy works best when everyone's voice is heard and protected. The Bill of Rights remind us that democracy is a right and a responsibility. I'm committed to protecting them, listening to you all and standing up for what's right in Nebraska. #BillofRightsDay
- Wishing a warm and joyful Hanukkah to everyone celebrating! May this season bring peace and hope. 🕎
- Small businesses are the backbone of Nebraska. When we shop local, we’re supporting neighbors, families, and the heartbeat of our communities. This holiday season, I encourage you to #ShopLocal. 🎁

- Human rights are for everyone, no matter who we are, where we live or who we love. This #HumanRightsDay, I'm proud to keep standing up for equality and opportunity. These values are what make our communities strong. #NebraskaStrong
- ✅ Trusted by Omaha’s Mayor Leadership I’m honored to have earned the trust of Mayor John Ewing and former Mayor Jean Stothert. My leadership will never be about following extemes. I’m focused on our communities, our schools and a brighter Nebraska.
- Proud to earn the support of Nebraska’s education leaders at @nsea_org !🍎 As an educator myself, I’ll always stand with teachers, students, and families to strengthen our public schools and invest in the next generation.
- Nebraska's future starts in our classrooms, which is why supporting our teachers isn't optional. I will always invest in public schools and the people who keep them strong.
- ✅ Trusted to protect reproductive freedom I will always fight for people to have privacy and limited government interference when they make personal choices. That's why I'm proud to be endorsed by Campaign for a Healthy Nebraska. Let's keep up the fight together.
- The amount of people who have already stepped up to support this campaign is incredible! 💙 This #GivingTuesday, let's keep that energy going strong. Please chip in today so we can reach even more Nebraskans! To donate ➡️ secure.actblue.com/donate/frien...
- Who says you can’t knock doors in the snow?! ❄️ Grateful for everyone in LD20 sharing their priorities as we gear up for the new year. Just 38 days until the Legislature is back in session! 🚪💬
- Small businesses are the heart of our community. I hope you’ll join me this #SmallBusinessSaturday and stop by your favorite local restaurants and shops (or explore some new places!) What’s your favorite small business?
- Wishing you a day full of joy, laughter, and good food. 🦃 This year, I’m grateful for the people who make our community so special - from teachers and parents to small business owners and health care professionals. And to my family for trusting me with the turkey! Have a happy Thanksgiving!
- During the holidays, we hear a lot about giving back, and yes, that's important. But it's just as important to have programs in our communities like SNAP and local food banks. No Nebraskan should have to choose between food and paying the bills.
- Every family is unique - and every family deserves support. On #NationalAdoptionDay, we celebrate the love and connection that grow through adoption. Everyone should be free to build a family in the way that’s right for them - with joy, dignity, and belonging.
- So thankful my days are spent fighting for Nebraskans.
- A couple of weeks ago I had the honor of attending the Ben Nelson Gala to celebrate the leaders moving our state forward! Grateful for the chance to connect with other leaders, reflect on Nebraska's progress and even meet President Joe Biden.
- Nebraskans know that the proposed ICE detention camp doesn’t reflect who we are. Families belong together. People deserve dignity. And Nebraskans don’t support policies that waste taxpayer money, harm our neighbors, and make no one safer.
- Top 10 weather day to crush some doors 💥😎 Genuinely grateful for how engaged LD20 is - best district in Nebraska!
- On #VeteransDay, we honor the courage and service of our nation's veterans. But honoring them means more than saying thank you. It's ensuring they have access to the support and care they've earned and deserve.
- 🚨Turkey Crossing in LD20!!🚨 Was fun to run into these guys when out on doors today - but didn’t have the heart to tell them Thanksgiving is just a few weeks away… 😵💫😵💫😵💫
- Happy Halloween, LD20! Wishing everyone a safe and fun night full of treats (and maybe a few tricks). 👻🕸️

- Door-knocking beast mode: activated! 💪 Had a great day connecting with LD20 neighbors about the issues that matter most to them and their priorities for the year ahead. Perfect weather and beautiful gardens made it even better!
- I'm running for re-election to make sure every voice is heard, every community has opportunity and every challenge is met with solutions. Together, we can deliver real results for #NebraskaFamilies. Thank you @OWHNews for this story! omaha.com/news/state-r...
- L’Shana Tova! To all celebrating #RoshHashanah: May you have a sweet and joyful year ahead! 🍎🍯
- Today’s news is terrible. Gun violence knows no ideology, and it's a national crisis. We must all have the courage to condemn it clearly and act decisively.
- The beehive is buzzing! 🐝 Yesterday we harvested honey from Jeff’s hive. That Nebraska honey hits different 🍯😎
- Happy Labor Day! Grateful for the years and years of hard work that have gone into the benefits we enjoy today - safe workplaces, paid time off, minimum wage - the list goes on. Thank a union today!
- ICE camps are not welcome in Nebraska. Information is limited right now, but we are not giving up on demanding answers and protecting our immigrant neighbors. Swipe to see what you can do to help oppose an ICE center in Nebraska.
- This community had to shut down a hospital just a few months ago due to funding cuts. Stripping healthcare. Building cages. This should concern every single Nebraskan, and spark a reckoning. Is this who we want to be? Have we seen enough? nebraskaexaminer.com/2025/08/19/i...
- Just had a great meeting with Mayor Ewing! We talked about economic development, the future of our city, and how proud we are to call Omaha home. Excited for what’s ahead! 🌆💼 #Omaha
- Nebraska’s ABA rates attracted countless skilled providers and built one of the strongest ABA service environments in the nation. It’s a shame that our state leaders don’t see the value in supporting this critical workforce. Kids in Nebraska will lose care because of this decision.
- Happy Independence Day! Today I’m reflecting on American values: freedom, equality, compassion, and opportunity - and the courage to stand up for them when they are under threat. 🇺🇸
- Like many of you, I have been monitoring what has been happening nationally and the impact this has on Nebraskans. I was proud to join a bipartisan group of colleagues this past week to encourage our federal delegation to ensure Nebraskans are not left behind.
- Truly devastating. Americans need to get clear eyed about what we are facing in our country. Enough is enough. My heart is with everyone in Minnesota.
- Had an awesome time speaking with the Unicameral Youth Legislature! 🎉 Thanks to the Clerk’s office for this program that lets high schoolers experience being a state senator. Bonus: I got to preside over their Select File debate!
- Today I toured the Harriman Dispatch Center at @UPRR — a 24/7/365 operation keeping all trains, workers, and cargo moving safe throughout the country. This incredible operation is right in downtown Omaha - inside a concrete and steel reinforced bunker! 🚂 Bonus: my guide was a high school friend!
