- The 2011 New START treaty expires on 5th February 2026 - the last remaining bilateral arms treaty between the US and Russia, who between them hold over 85% of the world's nuclear stockpile. Expiry would very likely result in more Russian/US submarine activity in north Atlantic.

- Scottish civic organisations have been proud to support the UN nuclear ban treaty throughout its 5 years in force since 2021! This is the most robust legal path towards a world free from nuclear weapons, founded on humanitarian principles and a philosophy of true common security worldwide.
- US nuclear waste stored in the Marshall Islands' 'Runit Dome' risks contaminating the Pacific due to rising sea levels. Another massive injustice at the intersection of the nuclear age and the anthropocene. Nuclear weapons must be universally banned, and affected communities restituted.

- Picture it: Putin doing a press conference in a tank factory in Russia: "army 10x more lethal by 2035, I am preparing our country for war" Sounds like comic-book villain stuff right? Those are the same words our 'centre-left' Prime Minister spoke yesterday at BAE in Glasgow.
- Really important intervention here from CND and expert affiliates - if its security we seek, the billions spent on arms proposed by Healey's SDR are totally MISSPENT. This government is not serious about security. Citizens now need to stand up and demand a strategy for peace, not war.
- It is truly shocking just how much amount of money that can be materialised from nowhere for weapons of war - dozens of billions for submarines, nuclear warheads and maybe even US fighter jets. Meanwhile Labour quibble about how to rob a billion here and there from the pensioners and the sick.
