- Another productive visit to Northwick, Worcester this afternoon. My 1st Red Kite here since July ‘23. The bird drifted low from north Worcester before lingering over Hallow Woods then continued west. 9 Gadwall. 4 Wigeon. 20 Teal. Lt Grebe. Green Sand. 4 Lt Egret. 2 Chiff. Stonechat. #WorcsBirds

- Excellent morning at Northwick, Worcester. With all the recent rain, water levels remain constantly high. Finding 7 Pintail (4m, 3f) on the marsh was the obvious highlight. Unfortunately flew SW after being flushed by a dog. 44 species total is very good. #WorcsBirds app.bto.org/birdtrack/pu...

- Northwick, Worcester this morning. A Cattle Egret was feeding alongside 5 Little Egret & a Lapwing. Later on it was replaced by a 6th LE. - This morning I came across a Water Rail up a tree. This was on the banks of the Severn at Northwick, Worcester. Another bird was calling from the far bank too. Possible that there are at least 4 birds across the patch now. 10 Teal. 5 Snipe. Green Sandpiper. Stonechat. #WorcsBirds

- Finding 2 Purple Emperor Butterflies on the #MalvernHills is one of my stand out memories from this year. Not seen on the hills since the 1980s it was great to be able to share this find with local enthusiasts. One was present for 4 days offering fantastic close views. @savebutterflies.bsky.social
- I spent a lot of 2025 plodding the footpaths of the #MalvernHills with some rewards. My North Hill list ended on 62. Highlights were 2 Osprey, Black Redstart, Hobby, 5 sightings of Ring Ouzel & 14 of Wheatear. On the lower hills I was amazed to witness a pair of Pied Flycatchers mate. #WorcsBirds
- I end the year on 98 at Northwick, Worcester. Many highlights inc Glossy Ibis. Passage, Whinchat, Wheatear, Spotted Fly, LRP, many Redstarts & Redshanks. Others, Jack Snipe. Cuckoo. Pintail. Green Sands. Breeding of note, Mandarin, Water Rail, Kingfisher. Good year for the Swallows. HNY #WorcsBirds

- A 100 strong flock of Greenfinch came to roost in my neighbours Laurel bush this evening. Fantastic how this has become a regular seasonal occurrence. Numbers up on last year too. My record count of 170+ was 3 years ago. #WorcsBirds

- Northwick, Worcester this morning. This beautiful Stonechat became my 6th passage bird of the autumn. Singles of Water Rail, Chiffchaff & Reed Bunting were also on the marsh. 1200+ Wood Pigeon SW in the 1st hour or so. #WorcsBirds

This was eclipsed by a long overdue patch tick with 2 singing Cettis Warbler on the marsh! 4 Tawny Owl still calling after 7am. 200+ Mallard. 20+ Teal. 400+ Jackdaw. 2 Chiffchaff. 11 Raven E. 125 Redwing SW. #WorcsBirds

- The birding was slow this afternoon on the northern end of #MalvernHills The highlight was at least 3 Redpoll near the top of Happy Valley. They were amongst a large mix tit flock which also held 3 Goldcrest, a Coal Tit and many Chiffchaff. #WorcsBirds
- 3 Wheatear this afternoon on the northern #MalvernHills 2 in Chat Valley on North Hill. With a further bird just below the top of The Beacon. Nice close views of a Jay too. #WorcsBirds
- Northwick, Worcester this morning. 3 Snipe showed themselves briefly flying over the marsh before dropping back down. My 1st of the autumn here. 2 Stonechat also on the marsh were new in overnight, feeding alongside a singing Chiffchaff. 14 Teal. Little Egret. Kingfisher. 4 Reed Bunting. #WorcsBirds
