He dabbled with this trope before but would always leave a hair of deniability. Going straight there also seems like a sign of weakness

- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDI wanna personally congratulate Hunter Biden for not only being nowhere near the Epstein files but for having rock-solid reviews from sex workers for respectfulness and tipping
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDthe Epstein files are really devastating because they remind me of how many girls and women miss out on professional opportunities, mentorship and careers because of how many powerful, rich and influential men only view girls and women — and interactions with them — through the lens of sex
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDi feel like we've had a good enough sample size for like two decades on whether or not body cameras on cops do anything whatsoever to stop them from killing people. the guy that murdered renee good was filming it on his phone for fun!

- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDToday at school dismissal, I followed a suspicious pickup around for a bit, keeping an eye on them, trying to figure out if they were ICE. Then I realized they were keeping an eye on me also. Then I realized they were, in fact, other parents. Life in Minnesota, January 2026.
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhD'measles outbreak at the child prison' seems entirely avoidable, it's really the kind of thing that only happens if you do several unthinkably evil things on purpose all at once

- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDI just got tear gassed along with thousands of union members, many of whom had their families with them. Federal agents at the ICE facility tear gassed children. We must abolish ICE, DHS, and we must have prosecutions. I expect to see enforcement of our city code prohibiting the use of tear gas.
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDJust got gassed pretty good at the labor union anti-ICE protest in Portland. Massive march, 5-10k strong. Vibes were very much liberal rather than radical. Lots of kids and older folks. They gassed the whole crowd as soon as it marched on ICE, in broad daylight.
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDToday, I made historic appointments who will lead key agencies and create a city where everyone can thrive. I appointed Stanley Richards as Commissioner of DOC. Decades after he served time in our city’s jails, Commissioner Richards will now be the first formerly incarcerated person to lead them.
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDToday I saw ICE gas little white kids in the streets of Portland with chemical weapons. Imagine what they're doing to brown and black kids in the detention camps
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhD“Children were in the crowd screaming.”
- Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDNo need to imagine. The country incarcerates children as young as 9 years old daily in youth prisons and jails. Those children are routinely sexually and physically assaulted and also emotionally tortured. They are fed terrible food and given barely any education. This country has done this for yrs.

- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDI understand it's hard for some to use the term concentration camp, even for those horrified by what's happening. And there are settings (e.g., court) where it may not be helpful today. The key thing to realize is that there's an arc of how detention regimes tend to go, and we're recognizably on it.
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDDemocrats' demand that Stephen Miller is fired as a condition of voting for ICE funding is one of the smartest moves they've made under Trump. Miller is a loathsome figure who I imagine has rock-bottom likability numbers. Democrats should try to raise his public salience as often as possible.

- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDWe need to talk about the rise of "smol bean fascism" where you have all the guns and the immunity but the really scary people are the ones with whistles and phone cameras and they're giving you generational trauma and ptsd by filming you killing people for no reason
- Fighting fascism is a marathon not a sprint.
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDI paid my therapist a zillion dollars to tell me this, so I’m passing it on to anyone else in MN who needs to hear it: Think of taking time away to recharge not as not doing the work, but as doing quality control for the work. - Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDAnd I genuinely, truly and non-trollingly, understand concerns about threats to officers in question, but in every single other law enforcement shooting I've covered, authorities name the individual(s) involved. This is just the baseline of public accountability.
- Reposted by Zoë McLaren, PhDIt's not quite the most pressing issue at the moment, but the American people absolutely have a right to know the names of the federal officials who shot and killed a man peacefully protesting, who was on his knees, prone in the street when they shot him in the back.
