- Reposted by Gillian E. Bergmann, PhDDid u know?Pollinators & wildflowers (weeds)have evolved together over millennia. This natural partnership should be allowed to flourish in our own outside spaces. White Dead Nettle is a perfect example of this, especially as it starts flowering, early in the season, when food can be scarce. 🌱🌿🇬🇧🌱🌍🪲🐝

Attend trainings on non-cooperation and train others with what you learn. Building a national movement starts with you—in your backyard.

- I was ver fortunate to receive this fellowship in 2020. It gave me the freedom to pursue grad school and my research with financial stability. Programs like this are essential to recruiting passionate young scientists. Please contact your reps to help kill these cuts and others to science.
- The NSF's flagship fellowship program typically gives offers to 2,000+ young scientists. This year, in the face of looming budget cuts, that number was halved: only 1,000 received an offer. Our story on what that means for the science talent pipeline: www.nature.com/articles/d41...

- I also got started in my research field because of an NSF REU. These programs provide important training for new/young scientists to follow their passions and contribute new knowledge. This is a major loss and threat to education.
- My first research experience was because of a summer NSF REU. I learned to code (in FORTRAN 77!) as part of the KTeV high energy physics collaboration. It launched my passion for science & my entire career. Devastating to see this valuable program gutted. www.science.org/content/arti...
