Paul Zimmerman
Archaeologist and Übergeek. PhD and RPA. When I’m not in the field I’m on my computer wrangling data. Research focused on Mesopotamia and Arabia. Born and raised in Minnesota, but settled in the Hudson Valley. Hypertrophied sense of right and wrong.
- Reposted by Paul ZimmermanEpstein’s economic power among academics was made possible by a capitalist system that makes higher education dependent on the charity economy rather than a public good supported by taxing the rich
- Reposted by Paul Zimmermanso the government’s been sitting on these files without arresting anyone because all their biggest donors are in it huh

- Welp. I guess it’s time to start shoveling.
- Two one-hour sessions of digging, with a break in between, and I've almost cleared the driveway all the way to the road. Another hour of it, and I’ll have removed the plowed-in top of the driveway and freed one car from winter’s icy grip. Maybe two more hours after that to clear off the other cars.

- Hey dumbass, remember when you were looking forward and not back? Well, some of us were also looking forward and this is the future we saw. You did your part in bringing us here, so I don’t want to hear another peep out of you unless it’s contrition 🖕🏽

- @mnufc.com you didn’t have to do this. You gained nothing by debasing yourselves. @mayoclinic.org you’re doctors, how about “do no harm”? Show some spine! I’m fucking disappointed with you.
- And to be clear, the reason why I’m singling these two out is that I’m a fan of MNUFC and my dad was a doctor at the Mayo Clinic for most of his adult life and it’s an institution that I’ve had a lot of respect for.

- Reposted by Paul ZimmermanThere isn't really a big difference of opinion over what is happening in Minneapolis, between the government and the community. Everyone agrees that armed paramilitaries are subjecting indiscriminate violence against anyone who dares to dissent. We just disagree on whether that's good or bad.
- I was out this afternoon with about 20 people protesting ICE in my very red town. There were a handful of people who drove by scowling or shaking their heads, and one who gave us the finger—but far, far more who waved, honked, gave thumbs up, or hollered their agreement. We're going to win
- Reposted by Paul Zimmermanwe can’t use the law to force law enforcement to obey the law because people will say we’re anti law enforcement
- Test batch of 20 whistles. I’ll keep cranking these out as long as the group that’s organizing ICE protests in my town wants them.
- I’m old enough to remember when “police state” was used by just about everyone to decry illegitimate authoritarian regimes.
- Reposted by Paul ZimmermanDo this. It works.
- I’m convinced that whoever makes the Spelling Bee app is actually illiterate.
