- In contrast, when I taught at a minority serving institution, I had quite a few students who had accomodations but didn't want to use them out of shame I also had plenty of students who needed accomodations but couldn't navigate the system to get them - it was nowhere near as easy as at Stanford
- 👀Wow! Look what our most privileged students are up to, unapologetically! They should be tossed out for lying about disability. "You’d be stupid not to game the system," writes Elsa Johnson, a 21-year-old Stanford jr. No, just an a*hole. I say this as an... 🧵 www.thetimes.com/us/news-toda...

- Elon Musk bought Twitter and broke it Larry Ellison bought into TikTok and is ruining it Lex Luther bought the Washington Post and is now dismantling it Maybe we should stop letting billionaires buy up methods of information dissemination?
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerI went to college with Aliya. Here, she speaks to Congress about being assaulted by ICE in Minneapolis, pulled violently out of her car, and taken to detention, where she blacked out. "You have no reason to believe you will make it out alive if you already being called a body."

- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerWe gotta come up with a better system than “everything rests on whether these twelve billionnaires are nice”
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerMy story on Elon Musk cutting safeguards at xAI is on the front page of today's @washingtonpost.com. I’m also among 100’s of reporters laid off. I absolutely loved my job my brilliant coworkers & the thrill of reporting @ the center of forces upending the world: AI & Silicon Valley’s political power
- The party of "family values" loves to break up families: 50% of Republicans surveyed think we should deport the parents of children who are citizens if the parents improperly immigrated here 32% think we should deport citizens' spouses if they improperly immigrated here
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerTo all the people arguing that Bezos could easily afford to keep the Washington Post running forever -- you miss the point. People don't become billionaires by making decisions to help others or society at large. They become billionaires by only thinking about what will make them richer.
- It's not just a red state problem. Illinois is 4th in data centers and we're still building more IL is also looking at building gas fired electricity plants to meet demand, jeopardizing climate change goals Gen "AI" is flooding us with slop & draining our energy and water - we must fight it
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerNot only did the cybercrime unit in Paris raid the X offices. They rubbed it in and posted on X that the X offices have been raided. Then retired their Twitter account, so their final post is that they are raiding Musk. Absolute legend. Magnifique! 🇫🇷
- 🚨The French offices of Elon Musk's X have been raided by the Paris prosecutor's cyber-crime unit, as part of an investigation into suspected offenses including unlawful data extraction and complicity in the possession of child pornography. www.bbc.com/news/article...
- Another dangerous criminal

- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerI really am speechless if Minnesota puts its own oppressor in charge of leading the state.
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerICE is running a “conveyor belt” of illegally detained Minnesota families. Agents are arresting entire families with legal status and immediately shipping them off to Texas to deny them legal representation and avoid the federal courts in Minnesota. The cruelty is endless.
- Mayor Mamdani's showing us every day the importance of local elections. He's only been in office for a month and he's already fulfilling promises and accomplishing more than many politicians do in a full term National politics gets the attention, but local is where we change people's lives
- Reposted by Jocelyn Leitzingerthere are a lot of reasons to want schumer out. but even if this is not a major issue for you, claiming that your role as leader during a fascist putsch is to preserve a policy favored by the fascist and opposed by your party's voters is disqualifying. schumer cannot continue to lead the democrats
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerIt really is worth understanding what an escalation this is by the feds to be teargassing the big family friendly march
- Just experienced the most intense tear gassing of my life by federal officers outside the ICE facility in Portland where marchers gathered. There was no fast exit as they indiscriminately threw loads of gas and flash bangs. Children were in the crowd screaming. @oregoncapitalchronicle.com
- Reposted by Jocelyn Leitzingerdeath by preventable disease is an inevitable and even desired outcome of concentration camps. in every era of concentration camps people have died of typhus, which is a disease of privation and enforced crowding. this illness is intentionally inflicted

- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerA reminder that the Kennedy Center is the literal and legal and congressional designated presidential memorial to JFK. This would be like Trump tearing down the Lincoln Memorial to build something “better.”
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerBruce Springsteen is currently number one in iTunes in 19 countries.
- I'm honored to be called a member of the woke fake news media Also, I have done my investigation and March for Trillionaires is top notch satire @thefourthway.bsky.social In contrast, March for Billionaires is probably just a broligarch bootlicker
- Folks are debating whether this is satire or a bit, astroturfing or a corporate front group, or an authentic effort to protect billionaires (weird) I study astroturfing and corporate disinformation campaigns - I have an ongoing project on ballot measure astroturfing - so let's nerd out on this
- There are a couple places I like to start when investigating whether an effort is authentic acticism or bankrolled by wealthy interests This seems to be tied to a potential ballot measure for Nov 2026 - California One-Time Wealth Tax for State-Funded Health Care Programs Initiative (#25-0024)
- Ballotpedia is a good source for starting info. They track who supports and opposes initiatives. For this one, it looks like there are no known ballot measure committees yet - although there are groups publicly opposing it

View full threadSo, all this combined - I'm leaning towards either a bit or an industrious individual who is (oddly) passionate about techbro billionaires So far, it doesn't look like what I would expect to see from a corporate front group or a hired PR firm's astroturf campaign Time will tell

- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerWhat in the actual fuck is going on with media? They are failing us so badly. They can’t even get it right when it’s one of their own being attacked by a fascist government.
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerI now struggle to think of journalism as a profession because journalists seem increasingly unable to establish and enforce meaningful standards for quality and ethics i mean wtaf is this
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerWhen I resigned as co-chair of the National Association of Black Journalists convention after their decision to platform Trump, I took a lot of heat for it. I was told “Black journalists are going to expose his racism and save America” Today, the Trump regime is arresting Black journalists.
- Reposted by Jocelyn Leitzinger4 Black journalists have been kidnapped by the federal government
- I saw this in the DOJ's published cache earlier this morning, and now it is gone Checked some other files and this fairly damning link summary leads to another pulled file I was viewing on my phone, so didn't save anything. I hope others had a chance to download the files before they were deleted
- There's folks on Reddit posting excerpts from the file and it is even worse than the summary suggests I'd like to believe that there are folks on the inside purposefully sabotaging Trump. But it's also possible the folks in charge of the files really are just that incompetent
- This Reddit thread has copies of some of the documents that were deleted in the DOJ's Epstein database www.reddit.com/r/Epstein/co...
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerRemember that in addition to arresting reporters, the regime deported journalist Mario Guevara after detaining him while covering No Kings Day protests. “His imprisonment is among the longest for any reporter arrested in connection with their work as a journalist in United States history.”
- Reposted by Jocelyn LeitzingerQ: Do you have comment on the career prosecutors that are resigning in Minneapolis? BLANCHE: *walks away*
- Reposted by Jocelyn Leitzingerthe arrest of journalists in minneapolis, including don lemon, is more evidence that the only move the administration knows how to make is to use force, and does not know how to respond when that force is met with defiance and indifference.
- Framing matters and news outlet word choices shape what people believe Folks increasingly read headlines and nothing else. Implying that a prominent Black journalist was arrested for protesting is irresponsible at best Only AP used "Covered" It's just 1 word, but it completely changes the story
- Woke up to find we've entered the arresting journalists in the middle of the night stage of fascism
