- Yes Gus!!!! Fuck ICE
- 10/10. No notes. "Team GB skier Gus Kenworthy has launched a blistering attack on US Immigration and Custom Enforcement officers by urinating the words “F*ck Ice” on the snow just before the start of the Winter Olympics." www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/f...
- Reposted by Tom Carter-BrookesNothing drives sexist racists more wild than evidence that there are women of colour smarter than them, who achieved more than they will ever achieve despite having various feet belonging to sexist racist inadequate bullies on their necks. It destroys their (unwarranted, obvs) sense of superiority.
- No joke: I got angry hate mail today for writing an obituary of a Black woman scientist—because the person felt she did didn’t deserve the recognition. Which just makes me want to share it again: www.nature.com/articles/d41...
- Two tlyears ago I sat in my first ever environmental politics class as part of my MSc, and said that in my experience Labour were worse than the Tories on Climate Change. It was a simplistic statement and I've learned a lot since. I wish they'd prove me wrong 😔 www.theguardian.com/environment/...
- Reposted by Tom Carter-BrookesIf you want to understand the mainstreaming of far right politics and why defeating the far right at the ballot box doesn't mean actually defeating far-right politics, this is it
- Ha I never knew this, can always rely on her to be on the wrong side of history.
- Another great read from @marchudson.bsky.social "Conspiracy theorists and climate deniers insist governments are exaggerating the threat. In reality, the evidence increasingly suggests the opposite" Sums up the level of dismay I feel daily researching this stuff theconversation.com/a-uk-climate...
- @theguardian.com These pictures show him in the act, the word 'appear' would imply that there's a doubt as to what they show. There's literal irrefutable evidence right in front of your eyes. Absolutely diabolical reporting standards.

- This is a necessary condition of capitalism. Whenever we hear about the AI revolution etc, it's stuff like this which underpins it. Capitalism is an imperialist project of exploitation and expropriation, there can be no Just Transition within it. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/j...
- This. Absolutely wild that Labour genuinely think that they lose because six people vote green, or that 'a vote for Greens let's in Reform'. Labour=Reform lite in 2026. Totally arrogant and absolutely detached from reality.

- Reposted by Tom Carter-BrookesIf you want some background on Matthew Goodwin, I wrote a couple of years ago about his kind of grifter, their reactionary bad faith politics and how they are in service of the powerful and enabled by the mainstream elite jacobin.com/2023/05/righ...
- The BBC saw fit to describe Matt Goodwin as an academic in their reporting of him standing for Reform in the Manchester bye election. Absolutely diabolical. Ethno-nationalist grifter with a lose relationship with facts, who used to be an academic is a more accurate portrayal.
- Reposted by Tom Carter-BrookesHere's new Reform MP Suella Braverman, boasting about the time she took a trip to see a wall on "the land border between Italy and Turkey" which caused "crossings on that border to plummet"
- The sheer ignorance of this commentary is so staggering that it's unreal. An actual genocide taking place, arrest warrant out on Netanyahu that is being ignored (including by the author!) and global law is still in rude health apparently. How people get paid to spout this nonsense is beyond me

- Got my PhD ethical approval, and @ruralgrg.bsky.social are sponsoring the panel I'm convening for RGS. Academia is going through a total implosion currently, which I find really sad. I'm determined to try and enjoy what is likely to be a brief foray here and to celebrate the little successes

- Absolutely love this, great to see researcher which actually confronts these issues head on. Tinkering around the edges to preserve the status quo will not solve the problems that are a product of the status quo.
- Great piece from @marchudson.bsky.social on how Trump's climate policies are a hark back to a partially imagined golden era of capitalism. "Trump and his allies share a worldview shaped by conservative backlash against civil rights, feminism, environmentalism..." theconversation.com/us-climate-o...
- Absolutely flipping bang on Charley, and so depressing that it seems to be really junior academics who are the ones banging the drum the loudest on this FFS.
- Excited to share my first CfP for @rgsibg.bsky.social annual conference. Working with the fantastic @veronicaawhite.bsky.social and Alex Heffron, we're interested in hearing about the research around ongoing contestations of Green Transitions in UK agriculture. Deadline is 20th February

- Moving out stuff from my music room/office today ready for some work being done. As I'm not a full time musician anymore I reckon it's about 3 years since I last played this guitar.....little one take of an old favourite tune of mine. For the guitar nerds, it's a Martin J-15...from the late 90s iirc
